Absolutely, and the players coming through the first round are no mugs, there's no cruising through in second gear

Well just got up to the good news, Smith is going to have a cunt of a Xmas...probably come back looking more like an obese homeless guy in 2020..

Richardson will be one relieved guy, he would got the arse ripped out him if Suzuki won that game.

PDC giving themself a pat on the back for having a female marker, big photo of her on their website...yipee, another box ticked

Good morning lads.

Out of curiosity, did Nigel predict the crashing of the fallen victims (Barney, Cross and Smith) in Round 1?

That's an established idea for good reason yes.

But have the 5 Pro Tour (R1) winners who have played twice - Klaasen, Humphries, Huybrechts, Labanauskas, Woodhouse - tended to improve considerably in their second game? I wouldn't particularly say so. Darius and Woodlouse especially have played two splendid games with maybe more to come. Got no ranking (yet) but they got some game and they know it... if no-one else does (edit).

It definitely cannot harm your chances getting acquainted with that stage, but everyone can play these days, there are very few games which you'd say on paper are a walkover for the seed

Think it it's the same as last year. If i remember correctly most of the seeds messed the bed by throwing sub 90 avgs. White and Wright threw mid 90s. The only non seeds who won that second round match that were really impressive standard wise. Was Humphries and Dimitri. Devon sticks out in my mind, maybe because he was playing shit going into it and was surprised he threw as well as he did.

Think the first round is sorting out the weaker players whereas in the past you had 16 not so good world players playing in that prelim and 8 of those dodgy fucks got thru. Plus you had another half dozen johnny foreigners who got plopped into the first round.

In addition getting better johnny foreigners and pro tour players are more likely to put up a better game than in the past.

Combination of factors really coming together making it hard work for the seeds.

Not played him since I beat him then but he has played in our Rileys league on Thursdays last season and I could see a big improvement in his attitude and his game, Would be a tougher task now but it would be close and I know he want's his revenge so I would love a rematch.

Yes, he desperately wants to take time away from playing a multi-million pound tour to play some nobody in Worcester for a hundred quid.

Yep, Everyone in Worcester is a 'nobody' The standard of darts in Rileys is shit...That's why players like Luke choose to play in it.

Now that you say it, that's a particularly impressive list of non seeds. It's really just that the chasing pack is getting closer in standard. Combined with some seeds (Smith/Cross) having off games which can happen.
