Indeed. Catering to all tour card holders shouldn't mean blatantly taking away spots from the better players and give them to mediocre ones.

Re: Darts articles in the Media thread
Recent years also brought quite a few changes that all benefit the rank and file players. PC Finals has been extended to 64 players since 2016. All tour card holders qualify for the UK Open since 2018. The World Series Finals, with tour card qualifier spots was established in 2015.
Ally Pally now has 96 spots. 16 of the 24 new spots have gone to Pro Tour qualifiers. Not to mention the PC's and ET's increasing in number every year, and the prize money going up.
Considering all that, there is no excuse for butchering one of the biggest major events. No excuse for leaving out tournament winners from a major that's supposed to be for event winners.

Re: Darts articles in the Media thread
Aye, agreed.
I hate to say this, because I really enjoy the PDC vs BDO dynamic, but surely they also fuck over tour card holders by letting 8 BDO players compete in a PDC major? Williams and Waites failed to get a tour card this year. Yet, they qualify over many tour card holders for the GSOD because they did well in events that tour card holders are not permitted to compete in.

Agreed, four would allow a few more ET winners to get in and still keep it a ranking event.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Sep 05, 2019 11:36 amAll the tour card holders have the opportunity to qualify on the pro tour all year round. Not to mention all those who play in the UK Open and World Cup.In order to have the event as a ranking event, it’s important for us to have it open to the whole field of tour card holders so having qualifying places for eight players satisfies this criteria. Otherwise it becomes a bit too much of a closed shop for the top echelons
At the least, the PDC should reduce the 1-day qualifiers to four.
I think some of the runner up positions could maybe drop below the ET winners in criteria too, eg, World Youth Runner up, WCOD runners up and maybe the Masters

I'm quite useless so I started liking him once the amarillo song and the flamingos got going.
Sid's tears when he beat Lewis were delicious.

Watching that infamous game and Adie walked out to Vindaloo lol. Should kindly switch back to that if Duzza is going to leave him in the dust like he has of late!

No issue with Manley, certainly handled the crowd far better than Nicholson!
