The 2008 World Matchplay final is one. Both players in great form. Wade averaged well over 100 throughout and led 7-4 at one point. It seemed that Wade had a serious chance of beating Taylor at this point, but Taylor's standard then became so good that he won 14 of the next 16 legs to win 18-9 despite Wade's 100+ average. The last leg ended with the memorable 132 checkout on the bull when Taylor had to move way out to the right of the oche. Taylor was in tears afterwards, remembering his mid 2007 to early 2008 struggles and how he was now in amazing form.

Shayne Burgess in 2000. His epics with Martin Adams and Alex Roy. Went into a tiebreak at 9-9 with Adams, Burgess won 15-13. Went into a tiebreak at 12-12 with Roy, Roy won 18-16. Burgess had a knack of being in quite a lot of dramatic matches, losing most of them.

Wayne Mardle vs. then World Champion John Part in 2003. Part led early to mid match, Mardle surged to a 12-8 lead and one leg from victory, Part won 5 straight legs to lead 13-12, Mardle eventually won 16-14.

Can't look past last year's final, first time I've been to the Winter Gardens, and what a game to see!

2013 was littered with quality games. The semi-final between Lewis and MvG, the final where Lewis lost averaging about 105, Taylor v Jenkins in the 2nd round (was there that night and the following one), and Lewis and Hamilton's quater-final which went into extra-time. Along with last years tournament, that was the best Matchplay I can remember.

Blimey, remember that well and the finish to clinch it was as special as it gets. Eleven years has passed very quickly

Pdc finally getting their youtube act together and are putting some of the best matchplay finals up in mostly full, including the 2008 one. Hope they put the Taylor Lewis up too, never saw that one.
Boring Brendas number one and (almost) only fan.

Smithys number one and (definitely not) only hater.

They've posted a bunch more in the last week but still not that one. It's here though with Sky commentary:

Talor's utter breakdown in 2016 was quite good. Haha. Go on Mighty Mike.

Yes. In the second round, Taylor won 14-12. I was there that night, directly behind the oche. Brilliant atmosphere and it was easily game of the night.

Price and Bunting last night deserves a shout. Not the highest quality, but had great drama, and only the second game to be won by a single leg in Matchplay history.

And then Taylor won 6 of his next (and last) 9 matches against van Gerwen, including a 16-6 defeat of van Gerwen in the 2017 World Matchplay.
