.Scatman. wrote: Sun Jan 13, 2019 8:32 am Whats the story with corey cadby, watching nicholson interview he says that corey has renewed his card for this year. Are they finally going to let him leave Australia.

Something needs to be done about these players that pick up a card and don't use it.
If you don’t use your card you should be suspended the following year ( unless there are extenuating circumstances) imo. There are players busting a gut to try to get on the tour.
I think there is a minimum number of events you have to play to retain your card, I believe it's 5 across a year. Cadby has done that obviously, and Lam has lost his card so that rule doesn't apply. Silly rule really, should be at least 10 events. Zeyes pointed out that tour card holders can't do the whole Aussie tour, so I hope that Cadby has got things sorted (or else he's pretty fucked), but nothing about that guy surprises me anymore
it's one (1) in a 104 week period.

Winstanley? Really?

I can maybe see a bit of value in the likes of Suzuki, Ashton, Sherrock and maybe Ana doing it as they have the game in them to pick a win or two on the Challenge Tour and get themselves used to playing against the men regularly ahead of next year's PDC WC. But Winstanley isn't doing anything, chucks like every woman you've ever seen pick up a set of darts for the first time in their life. Pointless.

The world media would react the same to Murray's announcement I'm sure.

I completely forgot Kevin Thomas even exists. Was pretty hyped as a Welsh international player when he first gave QS a crack in 2013, as I recall.

Looking at his record, he's probably got consistently closest to it without ever actually winning a tour card:

2013: 10 spots out of the cards
2014: 13 spots
2015: 11 spots
2016: 20 spots
2017: 13 spots
2018: 53 spots (UK)

Youngster Callan Rydz (Youth World Masters runner-up 2014) isn't on the pre-released list. Finished first outside the cards last year. Did okay-ish on the Dev Tour (35th), aged 20 now apparently.

And as mentioned earlier in the list of CT players missing, Frosty. Seem to recall him appearing very late on the entry list in another year, too, so maybe that's his thing.

Oh, and Barry "Nutter" Lynn.

Checking my list of former tour card holders, some other decently known names that are still missing who played QS last year (not a complete list):

Andy Boulton
Steve Brown
Nathan Derry
Shaun Griffiths
Matt Padgett
Joey Palfreyman
Lee Palfreyman
Dyson Parody
Andy Smith

Quite a collection. No show without Frosty. It's to be a fascinating 4 days. Really feels to a large extent that the net has scooped up the whole ocean for the first time.

I believe O'Sheep and Hamilton said they would, but weren't on the original list. And where O'Sheep goes, his sullen jobber twin is sure to follow.

I guess the only surprise would be if one of the Euro lads from Lakeside is in.

Terry fucking Temple. The epitome of a PDC jobber.
2020 World Grand Prix Lucky Dip winner!
2x 2019 Q-School Lucky Dip winner!

Both as valuable as the Lakeside piss pot!

I've got a soft spot for Terry Temple. It ain't easy being juuuust good enough to be consistently "in" for so long, without ever really moving to the forefront.

On a semi-related note: Alex Roy's quest to be an ever-present UK Open player will get a bit harder this year with only 16 pub spots available instead of 32. Not on the early Q School list, same as the last few years, and I don't expect him to appear now.

Without Terry Temple we would not have had the viral sensation that is Lance watching on the pro tour.
