Re: The BDO Appreciation Society - Sponsored by Zeyes
Is it confirmed that the BDO got a 3 year deal for the 3 events WC, Masters, WDT? Or was that just forum bollocks or Des talking out of his ass?

I would say there is a three year deal but dependent on conditions being met. It's a matter of whether the conditions for example full venues can be met

I wouldn't be surprised if the deal is with an option to pick up in the 2nd or 3rd year, and if that is the case more than likely the BDO got a front loaded payment. Still will be shocked if it goes the full 3 years. BDO gets the walking dead award for as many years they been hanging on.

Very much doubt a front loaded payment or even a payment at all.cannibal wrote: ↑Sat Jan 05, 2019 5:53 pm I wouldn't be surprised if the deal is with an option to pick up in the 2nd or 3rd year, and if that is the case more than likely the BDO got a front loaded payment. Outside broadcast costs shitloads and there's no real demand for this product, you have to remember how many events the BDO have paid Frontrunner to cover.
Also once again how last minute this was announced. Eurosport held all the cards

lol wouldn't be surprised if your right. My premise is they are getting a standard type of contract for a multi year deal for a niche sport that you would see here in the states. ok I am being optimistic

Forget about Glen "BDO4LIFE" Durrant. Apparently once you've played PDC you're always a "PDC player" even after you stopped actually being good enough to be a PDC player.

I mean, Bristow was a county player, it just happened to be a time when county darts still featured most of the world's top darters, rather than a merry collection of no-marks just looking for a way to get out of the house nine weekends a year.

Bristow averaged 97 in the final of the 1984 and 1985 BDO Worlds.
Imagine what the Bristow of that era would average on the modern-day BDO boards? I would guess around 105 at the least.

Durrant couldn't beat his, or Taylor's averages on boards that are massively easier.

I'm sure some idiots think that Bristow in 1999 at his worst, is the Bristow we should compare everyone to. Muppets.
I'm sure he'd have coped with the "crowd disturbances" at lakeside this year that those top players got upset about. The myth of "best of order" is another one of those things for people with short memories.
