Harms criticises the media..saying "They call us amateurs "

Surely if you have a full time job and are not playing darts full time then that makes you an amateur!!!

some of us are working behind their darts career as well, but that doesn’t mean we are amateurs.
Yes Wesley, it does.

It's just a difference in the languages. What he meant was obviously "we are not that crap". Which can be up for debate.

He's feeling bullish after getting the group, and no doubt he played well, but the event starts now.

The BDO players are either amateurs or part-time professionals, but it's the amateur circuit.

The PDC players are either part-time professionals or full-time professionals, and it's the professional circuit.

This has been the case since the split of 1993, except that the BDO had a very small number of full-time professionals until recent times, like Barney from 1998-2006, as the BDO had a boom in the Netherlands for some years because of Barney's success.

Barney finally announces his retirement... next December: https://www.pdc.tv/news/2018/11/19/van- ... ment-plans
RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD has announced that he will retire from professional darts following the 2019/2020 William Hill World Darts Championship.

The Dutch legend is one of only three players in the history of the sport to be crowned a five-time World Champion and has now decided to play one more year on the PDC circuit before calling time on his glittering career. Speaking to The Darts Show, the 51-year-old explained his decision and his plan for 2019 following his penultimate World Championship.

"Next year is going to be my 35th year of playing darts at the highest level and it’s going to be my last year," said Van Barneveld. "I noticed in myself that I can’t keep up anymore, I know what I can do but it’s just not been happening for the past three or four years apart from winning the World Cup with Michael [van Gerwen]. I'm not winning tournaments anymore, I don’t know why but a lot of things have happened in my private life and I’ve also noticed that my body isn’t feeling 100 percent anymore - I don’t have the drive, motivation or fitness to carry on. I'm a winner, that’s what I do – I lift trophies but I can’t do it anymore. Maybe there are still a couple of titles left in me and that would be amazing but I can’t do this every week anymore. I don’t want my career to fizzle out which is why I’ve made the decision to retire at the end of next year."
PL slot undeservedly guaranteed now.

Gando calling Price a clown and saying he doesn't respect many left in the 2108 worlds. Could be Gando getting cranky like Taylor when he decided to end it. Maybe a sign Gando is more than ever thinking about when he is going to call it a day?

Anderson will be the next van Barneveld in a few years. A former great with a massive entitlement complex who can't be arsed playing the circuit, and an annoying fanbase to match.

Anyway, the Sun article above is from last year, of course, although I doubt Anderson would be saying anything different right now.

The idea that some players have to earn the respect for themselves is quite pathetic. It is a game of darts, better player wins after all and doesn't matter whether you are Phil Taylor or a guy down the pub. Let the darts do the talking.

The respect of Gary Anderson. Gosh. This year's must-have. He's such a plum.

But it's not at all about ego with him!

If Anderson hadn't moved to the PDC all those years ago, I reckon he'd now have a Twitter account with similar content to Mitchell's.
