Del Potro needed the first set I fear

Very high standard second set.

Novak seething at the crowd cheering for Del Potro

Sadly for del Potro, the result never seemed likely to be any different

That's a wrap for all the Grand slam finals. Which was the best this year? Hard to chose, I think they were all pretty poor. The Australian Open at least went five sets but the outcome was always obviously. The French was a procession with little entertainment. Wimbledon had a guy who could hardly walk and last night had one really good set but still another let-down. Pretty bad year for men's tennis I think.

The Australian open by a margin.
None of the others really delivered.
Solid years all round from Nadal and del Potro but Djokovic ends the year as the best despite what the rankings may say.

I would say that it is very likely Djokovic ends up with more slams than Nadal and Federer.

Especially with the two mentioned getting old.
Don't see a whole lot coming through.

Correct if he stays healthy or unless some name rises to the challenge in the next few years. He could realistically win at least 2 or 3 slams a year for the next 3 or 4 years. Federer is done, Nadal not far behind, can't see Murray making a comeback. Tennis is entering one of its weakest eras since Sampras' days.

Almost as weak as when Federer was winning all his slams.

Out of the youngsters, Zverev looks good without being great, still very unconvinced by Shapovalov and Tsitsipas.

Khachanov and Coric also look like solid potential top 10 players, but nothing special

Yes because Zverev is winning slams at 19 like Nadal was in Federer's era...

Federer had already won most of his slams by the time Nadal won anything that wasn't the French Open

Look who Federer was beating to win slams pre Nadal.

Hardly his fault. He was still beating Nadal and Djokovic right through to 2012. Djokovic only really started getting the better of a post 32 Federer. I think, for some reason, you seriously underate Federer.

Clearly it's not but someone had to dominate that eras not him it would probably have been Hewitt.
Born 5 years later he has nowhere near as many slams.

Only 5 came before Djokovic and Nadal were both in the field. Saying they weren't at their best yet is comparable to saying that Federer wasn't at his best or that Nadal was injured when Djokovic was dominating. Your logic can apply both ways.

Your not convincing me.
By the time they reaches their peaks the only slams Federer was winning was playing Murray in finals
