What has gone wrong for Dimitri?

Post by Randall » Tue Sep 04, 2018 2:08 pm

After the world's and world cup he looked set fair.
Made a final but has since vanished.
Lost 6-0 today averaging 78 to the guy he beat in the youth final last year.
How can someone so good be so bad?

Simple question that most likely has a very complicated answer. Hopefully his youth is in his favor as he has time to fix things and have a good career. Same thing can be asked of Webby, was a finger young player and out all went wrong for him.

Webster got the yips, and the pl famously destroyed his confidence.

Couldn't put any cause on the board to Dimitri total collapse.

He said at the World Series that the Players Championships are too early (in the day) which means he struggles to prepare for them.

Encouraging.

Had quite long enough to adapt now.

What was ever right with him? Overrated like so many other people because he is young.

Contrast that with his floor form and it's massive.
Great if you can play on stage, but if you can't do it on the floor, you won't be there.

The contrast is too daft for words. Needs an alarm clock and a slap.

Once that Ally Pally Quarter-Final money comes off in January 2020 he could be heading back to Q-School. Stupid.

It's baffling really, only explanation I can think of is lack of motivation in the floor events

I think that he has started to believe a bit too much in all hype and attention he gets in the TV tournaments.
Although he was superb in the WC, the way Kim was bigging him up was bit OTT.
The Same at Ally pally. Sky will always go OTT with anyone who has something marketable, so they go mad to give him airtime for his dancing etc and he certainly likes the camera does Dimitri.
It is now about how he is managed, including his dad who I believe, travels a lot with him...
I am not so certain that the PC events are too early for him, as he has never had an issue playing afternoon sessions on TV. Maybe it is the lack of TV cameras that prevent him from self motivation.
I really like the guy and would love him to reach the top 10, but he needs a big kick up the arse, otherwise as was mentioned earlier, a bad ally pally for him, could see him start to fall down the rankings.
At the moment JdZ looks a better prospect for the top 16 than Dimitri

Well that's the thing, both could easily storm Ally Pally in December and make it while monumentally fucking up on the ProTour!

Surely that catastrophe can't happen.
