Just the quotes. A future 'Any luck?' surely but attitudes all very different from the last time the PDC made a move in their direction.

https://www.buxtonadvertiser.co.uk/spor ... -1-9310918

...

Winstanley said: “It’s going to be such a hard job qualifying for getting one of those spots. Fair play to whoever gets through. They will have had to have worked hard but we’re all after a piece of the action.”

And added: “The publicity that is going to surround those two slots is going to be massive. It’s a money can’t buy experience. We’ve got to try and go for it.”

...

“Even if you don’t think you’re in with a shout, get your entry in, we’re looking for great support,” she said. “These opportunities don’t come along that often. We don’t know what’s going to come off the back of this.

“It may be a one hit wonder, it may be that if there’s plenty of entries in and plenty of response then we might get something off the back of it. We may get a ladies tour - you never know - we may not. But if you don’t get the support then nothing is going to happen. Until we give it a go we don’t know what’s going to happen.”

And added: “We’re hoping for a womens tour - that would be brilliant. If it’s a one hit wonder then we’ll take it while it’s there. It’s so exciting.

“We’re just giving it a shot for the girls and hoping for the best.

“The standard has risen so much in recent years you’ve got to put that practice in, you’ve got to find that fight. It’s getting harder and harder which is making the games better and better.”

My mind must be ahead of the times, I was reading the topic title as "We were hoping for a women's tour" at first.

Although I'm not so sure if "we want to make enough waves so that another darts org starts subsidizing our competitions" is really a case of balls.

It does show from the quotes so far that most of the women are more excited about this than they are about playing in their own world championship.
It says a lot about what they think of their own word championship and also how they value the importance of the pdc. The key to this could be sky! They are trying to push women involvement in sport big time so if they get good PR from this they might just offer Barry the chance to get great PR from this too.
If sky put their money behind it I think Bazza will jump at it, if only for the PR it will bring him.

You can't help but think it's just another tool to destabilise the bdo, like it needs any help.
This goes against everything he has said in the past re women competing with the men.
I'd be astonished if he sank money into a women's tour.

Agreed, Barry has always said he wouldn't do it but he also said he would never get rid of the walk on girls as long as he was in charge of the PDC. The power of media has a way of persuasion. I think it would only happen if the media took the whole scenario into overdrive and say one of the women actually win a match or two. It will be interesting to se how much Sky TV hype it nearer the time, that is normally an indication of their future plans.

There's no way on this fucking earth the PDC will entertain a womens' tour. If they're good enough the opportunities are there already

What "statement" is it that they're trying to make?

What do you expect from the Dutch. They like to miss label things to make themselves feel good.
When it isn't fashionable to be racist, I am no longer black, nor African. I am just some dirty Spaniard who cleans chimneys who happens to be good mates with a fat white bastard. I despise being labeled a dirty Spaniard, and besides isn't dirty Spaniard a bit redundant. It's a given Spaniards are dirty, as it is a given the Dutch are scum.

PDC, Sky, BBC and everyone else will run mad with this. Lisa Ashton and all the other Ashtons enter the PDC Qualifier.

It's promotional gold for Hearn and hidden away early afternoon at ally pallet won't harm the event that much.
Nobody will want to draw one of them for sure.

Some puzzling ideas here... A WOMEN'S PREMIER LEAGUE.

Hedman believes men will 'fear' women at the World Darts Championship
"I don't think there's a huge difference between the women's game and the men, in the majority anyway."
...
"It would have been nice to have four places in the PDC World Championship but it is still progress for our game."
...
"The dream for me would be for a mini women’s Premier League," she added. "That way the standard would get higher and we’d get more sponsors and more money in the game.

"We would then attract more players and it would escalate like the men's game has.

"One of the biggest booms in the sport has been women spectating over the past few years. It's a natural thing that the women’s game gets bigger now too."
