Unlucky.
You'd have to ask what a person would be expecting of a Sunday afternoon ticket. Anyway, it looks very good to me.

They have to hide the lesser matches away somewhere I guess.

FFS they did the same last year. They wrote best of 25 until they realised they fucked up and changed it. It shouldn't be that bloody hard.

Ages of the 7 players coming into the field this year.
All but Brown are debutants. The 2018 version of a Skol Six if you can go there.

43 Clayton
30 Wattimena
28 North
25 Brown
24 Lennon
22 De Zwaan
21 Hopp

Brown and Hopp have both been PDC World Youth Champions. Both have also won events on the Development Tour, as have De Zwaan and Lennon. All seven have played the PDC Worlds. Maybe Lennon attempted it to some serious extent but none of them played Lakeside.

All in all it reminds of the Hankey legend, both bankrupt now, October 2009 during takeover lols:

'He [Baz] should go away and concentrate on producing some players of his own.'

It hasn't been changed so far... maybe it is true.

Get, erm, Mark Dudbridge, erm, back on, erm.

Really looking forward to the Matchplay. Probably my favourite tournament, other than the PDC Worlds and the BDO World Trophy.

Maybe he could have dragged Taylor down, we will never know.

Inspired by upsetting references to Spamilton and Newtno in the other thread...

Five-year changes to the World Matchplay field (2013 v 2018).
17 out. 15 survive.

At a glance, 12 of the 17 newcomers are early-30s or under. Will it become rare for 'new' people aged 40+ to make a splash at this kind of level in the PDC?

OUT
Phil Taylor (1)
Andy Hamilton (6)
Wes Newton (7)
Justin Pipe (9)
Robert Thornton (11)
Kevin Painter (12)
Brendan Dolan (14)
Terry Jenkins (16)
Jamie Caven
John Part
Stuart Kellett
Paul Nicholson
Ronnie Baxter
Colin Lloyd
Jamie Lewis
Ronny Huybrechts
Mark Webster

IN
Rob Cross (3)
Daryl Gurney (5)
Gerwyn Price (12)
Darren Webster (14)
Jonny Clayton
Joe Cullen
Stephen Bunting
Max Hopp
Jermaine Wattimena
Steve West
Kyle Anderson
James Wilson
John Henderson
Keegan Brown
Steve Lennon
Jeffrey de Zwaan
