I agree his A game none of them could have beaten but I'd have backed them to all to beat him 6 times out of 10 based on consistency levels the Menace especially. The General wrote:Lewis had/gas an a game part wouldbt gave lived with for me. Wilson and Priestley better, but not quite.

Re: Where do you rank MVG now on the all time greatest list?
Priestley would have been a 5 time world champion at least but for Taylor and he still won 2 one of which was in a unified field the other in which he did actually beat Taylor. He'd have beat Barney and the others who were winning Lakeside back then no doubt. Only the best player in the game's history stopped Priestley being somewhere near Lowe and Brissy in an all time list. The General wrote:Dennis is grossly underrated.dartvader wrote:I agree his A game none of them could have beaten but I'd have backed them to all to beat him 6 times out of 10 based on consistency levels the Menace especially. The General wrote:Lewis had/gas an a game part wouldbt gave lived with for me. Taylor wasn't in the field when Barney won them so they have to be devalued. The General wrote:He's below the top three.Justin Credible wrote:most people do not see MVG in the top 3 going by the votes

Yeah they do pick and choose what suits. Having said that whatever you think of Barney's titles, Bunting's title was won in one of the weakest fields ever seen probably only beaten by the Lakeside's since and the 94 one.The General wrote:Then mvg has more titles than him.dartvader wrote:Taylor wasn't in the field when Barney won them so they have to be devalued. The General wrote:He's below the top three.Justin Credible wrote:most people do not see MVG in the top 3 going by the votes

Has to be top 5. I hate the guy but what he has done before the age of 30 is remarkable. If he gets to 5 world titles he would go top 3 along with Bristow and Taylor.M H wrote:But see him the top five by a country mileJustin Credible wrote:most people do not see MVG in the top 3 going by the votes

I am merely commenting on the votes.

Re: Where do you rank MVG now on the all time greatest list?
I'd put MvG ahead of Barney, Barney has never truly dominated the game save for 6 months nearly a decade ago. MvG is the third player in the game's professional history to dominate an era. Taylor's dominance was obviously freakish in terms of how long it lasted but MvG could be at the top as long as Bristow was at least maybe longer depending on how much he wants it and providing things beyond his control don't stop it like they did with Eric.
