Re: GREATEST WORLD CHAMPIONS IN ORDER OF NUMBER AND IMPORTAN
Hope I'm not biased in saying that I think Anderson should be above Part (Anderson has been my favourite player since I started watching). His 2015 win was so commendable considering how he'd essentially fallen out of the elite in darts and came back to win his first world title at 44, not that age has much to do with it mind, beating MVG then Taylor in the final. Parts win in 2003 was impressive as he beat Taylor in one of his top prime periods, which is such a contrast to 2008 when he beat Kirk fucking Shepherd amidst a series of other jobbers as well. Granted, someone had to win, but in the grand scheme of things Andersons victories in 2015/16 are far superior than Parts in 03/08 in my opinion.
I think there's a case for Anderson being superior to Lewis too, as Lewis' victories haven't been as impressive as Andersons in terms of the players he had to beat. If memory serves, Lewis was due to meet Whitlock and Taylor in the quarters then semis, however they both got beat by van der Voort and Webster, then the only thing I can really remember from 2012 was Wade's arse collapsing in the semis and Lewis beating Hamilton in a final that wasn't far off Part/Shepherd levels of terrible.
Not taking anything away from the fact that Lewis and Part have won two world championships as they deserve to be held in high regard amongst the darting world for their accomplishments, and I have the utmost respect for them both, but Anderson won in two extremely difficult draws against some of the best in this generation (Taylor, MVG, Wade, Lewis and even Wright) whereas Lewis and Parts second title wins were jokes in comparison to their first victories. But at the end of the day, you can only beat what's in front of you and at this moment in time they have all won two PDC world titles and I can see the case for them being ranked equally
