ITV was very regionalized back then, meaning that some events were televised in some parts of the country but not in others. Even the more prominent events on ITV back then, like the World Masters and MFI World Matchplay, were likely broadcast at different times (or even different days) in different regions.

From 1 January 1982 to 31 December 1992, these different ITV regions would have been:
Thames Television
London Weekend Television (LWT)
Granada Television
Yorkshire Television
Central Television
Harlech Television (HTV) - also divided into two different regions of its own, i.e. HTV Wales and HTV West
Anglia Television
Television South (TVS)
Television South West (TSW)
Tyne-Tees Television
Border Television
Scottish Television (STV)
Grampian Television
Ulster Television (UTV)
Channel Television (CTV)

Before 1 January 1982, the Central Television area was run by Associated Television (ATV). ATV was famously very close to Lew Grade and his Incorporated Television Company (ITC) that produced loads of television shows from the 1950s to 1970s. Grade lost power struggles in the early 1980s, and Central was used to replace ATV and basically cut out Grade and ITC. Also before 1 January 1982, the areas of Television South (TVS) and Television South West (TSW) were run by Southern Television and Westward Television respectively.
