Kind of an honest truth but I do like the final chance privilege for 2 tour card holders. Agree it should be maxed at 2. I am biased though

Re: The Greatest Show on Earth - 2024 PDC World Championship
Agree with the Pro Tour but fairest should always be international. Unless some cunt breaks their arm a day before their game it's not rocket science to get someone else!thegentle wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:52 pm I remember they used to get the highest ranked non-qualifier on the main OoM to fill in any gaps for international players who couldn't make it, Colin Osborne benefitted from that once. On the face of it, that's a fair enough way to fill gaps that otherwise can't be filled, although sometimes that player is someone who is in awful form (as of now it's Soutar, who, like Lukeman just behind him is not far from the ProTour spots for the Worlds, but King is just behind them in the provisional rankings and his form is rancid). I think the best way is to use the next player on the ProTour OoM, that way you've got someone who probably isn't on horrible form, but either way is better than reaching the final of a tournament for players who couldn't make it the proper way

I think these things. The Thorn wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:33 pmNo tour players need a last chance especially if they couldn't play the whole year for whatever reason. Also the quality of the field is strong and you would expect someone in form to make it
But it should always be limited to 2 players at max. If an international qualifier can't play PDC should always favour people from the same region to be the replacement
I increasingly think it's crucial to keep the value of a tour card high across the whole year. TCH floor qualifiers for Slam, WS Finals and Worlds are all about this. It may get a tad excessive in the case of the Slam where they give too many spots but I think the principle is very important. Maybe I'm going soft.

Two spots in a field of 96 is fine, anyone thinking otherwise is a fucking moron.
They had 4 or 5 spots out of 32 for Lakeside for years.

I still think if you win a ranking tournament during the season you should be in the slam, the Qualifiers should fill the remaining spots whether it be 8 or 1Rogg wrote: ↑Thu Jun 08, 2023 8:22 amI think these things. The Thorn wrote: ↑Wed Jun 07, 2023 6:33 pmNo tour players need a last chance especially if they couldn't play the whole year for whatever reason.
