That's 2010? That's a FAR tougher field than I was expecting. Didn't realize there were so many good players in the rankings in 2010. Couldn't remember

Greipel has it right.
Boring Brendas number one and (almost) only fan.

Smithys number one and (definitely not) only hater.

I still think he would be top 32 but don't think he'd be a mainstay there. That said, he would win nothing or possibly 1 or 2 events where Taylor and the like aren't there or get taken out early.

Some thoughts

Part is shockingly low for the time period, bearing in mind he won the Worlds two years before that. Although he had a renaissance not long after where he was mid 20s in 2011-13.

Jamie Caven is easily the most forgettable stealth jobber of the 2010s. Was around forever and did next to absolutely nothing on tv except lose famous games unless I'm wrong.

MVG and Klaasen in their famous slumps, both for different reasons, perhaps their big fallout ruined MVG's form in this era? Nobody really thinks of him in the fiasco.

Although there are many players better than Montgomery in the 32-50 bracket, I'll suggest that was Barrie Bates top 32 standard?

He reached a few QFs on TV and played really well on the rare occasion but his ranking was due to floor performances

This version of MVG is years before the Klaasen incident. He switched in January 2007 and was fairly or very crap for at least 4 years. We find him here around the 32 mark which is where he hovered for quite a while.

Barrie Bates was in the top 16 at one point, probably when his UK Open final was on the board. He was a floor bastard of course. I think he's well on his way to oblivion by the time he is at 31 in this list. He is dropping violently.

Re: Where would Ross Montgomery end up in the rankings if he switched in 2010?

Their fallout was in 2012, and seemed to coincide with MvG's rise in form. They were still best friends in 2010.
