Interesting thread. Originally I thought Eric but depends. Bristow would have thrown far higher averages today and mentally I can’t see MVG coping. However, over a shorter format MVG may win more often, but over a longer format like world final I still think Eric would get the better of him more often that not.

MVG not being able to cope mentally with Bristow is a bit of an old timers fallacy

Thinking Van Gerwen would batter Bristow is a young'un's fallacy. Clearly all opinions are biased and there's no evidence of a foregone conclusion/straight yes or no answerTheMalteseDart wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 10:10 pm MVG not being able to cope mentally with Bristow is a bit of an old timers fallacy

True, personally I don't think either of them things would be the case. I think MVG probably wins 60/40 and having it 60/40 either way seems the most reasonable argumentbristowfan69 wrote: ↑Sun Jun 04, 2023 10:13 pmThinking Van Gerwen would batter Bristow is a young'un's fallacy. That said, if Bristow won the first set/first few legs, he'd wreck MVG's confidence and he'd revert to being a high 80s/low 90s player like he tends to do when he's far behind. He just lacks the fighting spirit Taylor and Bristow had for me
