I'd like a national holiday in celebration of the birth of Rod Harrington.

Doesn't mean I am going to waste time proposing it online.
My idea is a bit more reasonable

But still not especially productive or likely to be put into practice.

It was in place throughout the history of the event. Even in 2020. The qualifying criteria of the tournament allows it. It wouldn't make a difference one way or another as cusuals won't give a shit about whichever second rate PDC player misses out. It would show PDC recognises the WDF and open to possible collaboration to help WDF

Has that been confirmed, or are we just making an educated guess?

Educated guess can't really see what else they could use.

Under PDC Rule 3.9, Jeff Smith (third year of Tour Card) is not eligible to qualify for the 2023/24 World Darts Championship or 2023 Grand Slam of Darts by virtue of winning the North American Championship.

The qualifying place will be awarded to a further Championship Darts Corporation representative, with details to be confirmed in due course.

Could be the Continental Cup potentially, although I don't know when that will be

Suppose, but I guess the point of offering a GSOD place via the North American Championship is to give a chance to a local player, Jeff is an established tour card holder now (though ironically if he loses his tour card as looks likely now, he can enter it next year and qualify for both the Worlds and the Grand Slam)
