A couple of interesting shows on Channel 4 that evening.

See what made the shortlist to be 'Britain's greatest sportsman' in 1996.

Saturday 28th May 1988.

The Les Dennis Laughter Show. You could probably use some after what was on before it... vile cunt.

Blazing Saddles in the eve.

Tuesday 28th May 1996.

Including satellite and radio.

I remember Fresh Prince of Bel Air around that slot on BBC2, 6pm. It was on after The Simpsons for a time I think. No sign of The Simpsons on normal telly yet.

The X-Files is on Sky One. The Big Breakfast on Channel 4... strange pairing.

The Daily Star, 39 years ago today. Announcing the death of Eric Morecambe.

Some TV listings after that, including I guess a quickly arranged Morecambe & Wise show in tribute on BBC1.

Wednesday 28th May 1980.

Another English team in a European Cup Final.

Bottom left corner, buy a souvenir magazine to celebrate the 2,000th episode of Coronation Street. Still not too late, it's on ebay right now!

Friday 29th May 1970.

Anglia and Granada listings differ a lot. Lost in Space -v- Thunderbirds at 4.55pm.

England's final warm-up game for the 1970 World Cup ('filmed highlights'). Will they retain it, nobody knows.

So the game was actually 5 days earlier on the 24th. Imagine having to wait 5 days just to see the highlights of an England game. :D

Wednesday 29th May 1996.

Radio Times and TV Times. Some children's TV shows I'd forgotten all about... Alphabet Castle and Wizadora.

ITV at 11.10pm... only ten days to go until Euro 96.
