Re: TV listings from the olden days
Saturday 26th May 1973.
A very interesting cricket article in the TV times. Look how those cartoons came true.
"Are we going to end up in the future with a game which looks more like American baseball than cricket?"
50 years ago today.

Re: TV listings from the olden days
Sunday 26th May 1996 in both TV Times and Radio Times.
UK Gold, 11.10am: Doctor Who omnibus. I may have watched that. I remember catching the end of a Blake's 7 sometimes before Dr Who started.
England v Hong Kong... we are in the Euro 96 run-up.

Hong Kong was where the 'dentist’s chair' incident happened.

Another satellite page from 26/5/96.

The Peruvian drama based on Dostoevsky's Crime and Punishment sounds particularly good.

Wednesday 26th May 1982.
Don't look now but Aston Villa are in the European Cup final. The Antichrist turns up shortly after. Coincidence? It's Omen II.

A bit of both here.
Brian Clough the co-commentator I think. I time-stamped what passed for a replay of an offside call in the golden era. Then a crow eats a woman.

Monday 27th May 1996
Doctor Who time in the Radio Times. I'd have sworn the movie was on a Sunday. It's actually Bank Holiday Monday.
Division 1 play-off final on ITV.

Re: TV listings from the olden days
The back end of the Doctor Who credits, continuity and news.
I remember that bit coming up at 15secs to dedicate it to Jon Pertwee who had died a few days earlier.
The play-off final makes the news, plus a bit of cricket.

Re: TV listings from the olden days
It was. Do you remember that Steve Claridge banger to win the play-off final for Leicester in the last minute of extra-time that afternoon?

The TV Times' take on Doctor Who's return. McGann sounding nervous.
