I reckon Montgomery would have been higher in the rankings than many suspect. Not too high but around 25th would be doable. Reason I think this is he was a decent floor player and reckon with a nice draw would reach the quarters in a few TV events. I think similar career to Pieman on PDC TV if he switched.DeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 1:56 pm De Vos

Re: The Great TDF Darts Picture Dump
Not if he switched in the mid-2010s. His TV record in the BDO was horrendous between 2016-2019, despite the weak fields.Smithy1412 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 6:49 pmI reckon Montgomery would have been higher in the rankings than many suspect. Re: The Great TDF Darts Picture Dump
If he switched 2008 ish he may have done. I'm probably overrating him a bit, but there's been worse players to reach TV Qfs in the PDC. He may have improved too. I would imagine his decent TV runs I think he might have had in the PDC would have come in the less important ones like the PCFs and European championships. I am still certain he would be a complete jobber in the Worlds and Matchplay

Re: The Great TDF Darts Picture Dump
He was a jobber in the BDO up until around 2009/2010, which conveniently was when the BDO really started to hit the skids. It gets forgotten that the BDO became especially poor in the early 2010s. Lakeside 2011 and 2013 were as bad as the O2 Fiasco.Smithy1412 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 8:29 pm If he switched 2008 ish he may have done. At best, I can only really see Montgomery having a similar PDC career to Deano.

Re: The Great TDF Darts Picture Dump
Scott Waites between 2007-2013 was class and would have been a massive hit in the PDC had he switched during that time (Sure he had poor tournaments in that period, but so do anyone else) After that his reputation gave him his 2nd Lakeside when Durrant cacked himself for the last time and he coasted past Hughes & Smith (Both of which on balance have had better PDC Careers then Waites), His shoulder injury hampered him. But the Aspinall 2021 PDC Worlds match defind his career, Was coasting 2-0 and then fucked it up. Hasn't been the same since and has just been a makeweight which is a shame as he is an excellent player who won a big PDC Event.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 5:59 pmWaites and Hankey could have had very good careers in the PDC had they switched in their primes. Hankey would have been top 10 easily had he switched in the early to mid 2000s. Waites probably would have cracked the top 10 also had he switched in the late 2000s.DeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 1:56 pm De Vos

Fitton and O'Shea could have had solid runs too had they switched in the late 2000s.
I don't think the rest would have done much. Remember, the likes of Deano, Wilson and other BDO flavours of the month barely broke the PDC's top 32, and when they did they didn't stay there long. I suspect peak versions of Harms, Mitchell and De Vos would have performed similarly.

Re: The Great TDF Darts Picture Dump
As for the others, in that time there was Lakeside for 100k on BBC plus a few other events and people never felt like switching. It was only when the chaos started that people thought twice. O'Shea and Fitton went to Q School when their Careers were well on the slide as well as John Walton.
Montgomery only went due to the BDO going bust and the WDF being out of action due to covid. I don't think he thought he would win a tourcard & stated he wanted to do the Challenge Tour. I think everything is a bonus for him as if he losing his card he will be on the seniors tour and will qualify for the TV events...mind you Scott Mitchell hasn't done this
Players have their dips. Players have their peaks and some make a vaild comeback like Richie Burnett (4th edition of him now) etc.

Duzza wasn't that far away from winning 5 Lakesides when you think about it.oche balboa wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 2:57 pm After that his reputation gave him his 2nd Lakeside when Durrant cacked himself for the last time
Adams and Waites were past their best when they beat Duzza in 2015 and 2016 respectively, but they both still had to play very well to beat him. Duzza would have probably pissed it against the likes of Smith, Hughes and Mitchell had he won those games.

Adams averaged 97. Waites averaged 95. They both played well and only just beat him. I agree Smith, Mitchell, Hughes etc wouldn't have coped with Duzzasennafan24 wrote: ↑Tue Apr 25, 2023 5:28 pmDuzza wasn't that far away from winning 5 Lakesides when you think about it.oche balboa wrote: ↑Mon Apr 24, 2023 2:57 pm After that his reputation gave him his 2nd Lakeside when Durrant cacked himself for the last time
