It’s going to be Campbell and Smith. The guy in the tweet said that’s what they do anytime there hasn’t been two card holders. There’s only 1 USA card holder which is why they then go to the CDC OOM. There’s 2 Canadians with cards so they don’t have to do that,

I laughed about him bombing in the following events. At the time of the tweet he picked up the lakeside runners up cheque. And back then that would have been decent like 30-40k?

FWIW, I'm not convinced either way on the "Order of Merit or regional tour ranking" question.

from the PDC article:

'Nations who will be represented by players from the PDC Order of Merit will see their teams confirmed on Monday May 29, with the top two ranked players invited to compete for their country.'

which doesn't clear it up really. They'll take Von Dongen from the OoM but not necessarily a second player?

Yeah, that just talks about what happens with a nation IF its team is picked from the OOM, but it doesn't declare that all nations / all spots that could be picked from the OOM actually will be. On the flipside, the Nordic/Baltic guys have this on their website:

For one thing: Associate members on the OOM supposedly take precedence over non-members on the OOM. (Could become relevant depending on who qualifies for ET7-9.) And in closing, this blurb:

The selection process is built on preserving the integrity of the tournaments organised by the PDC and PDC Nordic Baltic.

Not only does it prioritise and reward players already committed to the PDC and PDPA, it also rewards players that have shown sustained commitment to the PDC Nordic & Baltic tour but as yet have not entered Q-School.

Notwithstanding what the CDC's Citera says, it's easy to read that and think "maybe the PDC will now actually take Spellman or Lauby if they get on the OOM, and the CDC ranking thing will just be backup if they don't."

And actually, we don't even know if Spellman needs to get on the OOM. He played on the Pro Tour this weekend, the PDC could easily decide that's enough "commitment" to the system to have him jump the queue.

(Also, I think the "Associates > non-members" thing probably extends to "tour card holders > everybody else". PDC Asia certainly seem to think that Perez is locked in for the Philippines.)

Actually, I don't think the PDC Asia stuff was posted to the thread yet? From their FB:

The teams from the PDC Asian region that will be included are:

China – two players selected from China Premier League (Xiaochen Zong, Lihao Wen)
Hong Kong – two players selected from PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit
Japan - two players selected from PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit
Philippines – Christian Perez selected as Tour Card Holder, one player selected from PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit
Singapore - two players selected from PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit
Thailand - two players selected from PDC Asian Tour Order of Merit

Cut off day: May 1st. after Asian Tour Hong Kong.

For Bahrain and India, PDC will then do a follow-up announcement how players will be selected.

Some assorted qualifier junk I ran into over the weekend:

Devon Petersen's new org is apparently holding a qualifier for South Africa's second spot 31 March - 2 April.

FIDART in Italy is doing two pre-qualifiers 26 March and 16 April, then a top 32 playoff 14 May.

New Zealand is probably sending the top 2 players from its 2023 ranking, after either the third (30 April) or fourth (14 May) tour weekend. Haven't seen official confirmation of that, but that's how they used to do it. On their website there's information that they'll switch to a 12-month (not just calendar year) qualification ranking, but that's only starting with next year's World Cup.
