Design A 17-Night PDC Darts Tournament

Post by Rogg » Thu Feb 02, 2023 2:11 pm

Proper attention all dorks now. There has been much talk recently about Premier League formats. Let's see yours!

EITHER design a tournament that resembles what everyone would basically recognise as Premier League Darts as we've always known it.
OR, design something a bit different, or very different.

The only rule:
It must be the length of the current Premier League, so that is 17 nights.

Do several if you want, as simple or as imaginative as you like. No promises but I could do one as a 17-day game to try it out.

How's about the current format only the weekly winners go through to a finals group and a new player joins in their place.

16 winners play off week 17

Not that I'd watch that either but it adds variety

Ive said my idea multiple times before.

- 16 players
- 16 nights
- every night a different 8 from the above pool of 16 play a knockout tournament. Random draw. Points allocated for making the semis, final and winning it.
- all players get 8 goes.

After 16 weeks invite the top 4 or 8(not fussy) to Week 17 (Finals night) and play another knockout tournament to decide overall winner.
Big changes on the way ! We've heard it before but it's different this time !!!! , I believe Bdo gonna grow x

A bit like the Championship League of Darts then. An original line-up of 8 + 15 extras.

15 games on finals night is probably impossible but I like it.

You could even tailor the 15 extra players to the locations of each night.

That's my idea but slightly changed that there are two groups of 8 and top 4 in each go to the last 8, last 4, final

No, the same 8 players 8 times is just as boring as the same 8 players 16 times.

15 league nights and 2 play off nights then
You could select the 16th player via some method
Even if its a fan vote

how many more times can people watch the clowns entrance - or sing barney army - or see wade - its been like this for over a decade now - its repeititve - ive been saying for years - the pdc should change the format - lets have a county league one year - or an international league - week 1 live from manchester - its cheshire captain bunting against yorshire captain scott mitchell - and so on - how about a pairs league - instead we get the same 8 players every week - this is why bdo is better - more variety in tournaments - you get county games - pairs - triples - set play at the masters - leg play at the trophy - you name it - all you get in hearns league is leg play and a bunch of yobs - Jobson

3pm starts, need to check Randall's rota at work before scheduling the dates in. Would also need to be on a free to air channel, and zoomed in so he can see the action properly.

Top 18 in the world. Then you eliminate 1 every week. The format changes every week to account for different number of players
