Wasn't that December of 2019? Rather than December of 2020?

I thought one of Des' "stories" was that Potter and co were planning an alternative world championship, while he was trying to get one going at the O2?
It wasnt a story. Potter did say he was going to put his own event up against the o2. It then got moved to Easter, and then got shelved.
Big changes on the way ! We've heard it before but it's different this time !!!! , I believe Bdo gonna grow x

Potter and WDF to run a "world championship" in January of 2022?
They were planning it for December this year, according Uncle Des. If that's worth anything(!) then it seems that December is their month of choice. Wanting to hold the entire thing before the PDC Worlds starts, presumably, and at Lakeshite most certainly.
Agreed. Late November/early December at Lakeside seems to be the most likely outcome.
2020 World Grand Prix Lucky Dip winner!
2x 2019 Q-School Lucky Dip winner!

Both as valuable as the Lakeside piss pot!

This has probably been mentioned somewhere.

Qualification for the WDF Masters in December. Planning a group format for the opening stages.
WDF Major Champions
World Championship – all former Champions
World Masters – all former Champions

They're happy to scoop up old BDO winners so what exactly will the WDF attitude towards the BDO be?

Will they consider their 'major' event/s to be a continuation of the BDO versions? Will John O'Shea be the defending champion if/when this comes around?

Bob Anderson has expressed interest.

I don't think Lowe is interested though:

Maybe he could have dragged Taylor down, we will never know.

I was always a bit confused, were all these BDO events recognised as WDF events as well or what? Dan Dawson caused a minor stir at Q-School referring to Mitchell as a former WDF world champion, but was he wrong? What did the WDF actually do this whole time, was it more a case of organising the World Cup and slapping their name on events while the local orgs did the heavy lifting?

I was always a bit confused too. Yes I noticed DD awkwardly saying that to OBM, as though the term 'BDO' were now outlawed.

The WDF stopped recognising the BDO at some point after the 2019 Masters fake-names/seeds-vote ultra cock-up so Warren's piss title is certainly not WDF recognised. I expect they will happily claim it for continuity reasons when the time comes, however.

Interesting they say "first WDF World Championships" so they're not viewing it as the event formerly known as the BDO World Championships (yet possibly?) a la the League Cup/Coca-Cola/Worthington/Carabao etc etc

Also sticking to January I assume.
