No it didnt.

2018 as an example, the men played for £9600 and the wimmin for £4600.

In the same year the Dutch Open had a €18400 pot for the men alone, and that is significantly more than £9600.
IoM pot for the men that year was £10500

And thats just two examples I could be arsed finding.

Like I said, the Gold Cup is/was a inter-county piss up, to the extent they all fucked off one year because the bar ran out of booze.

It's a very loose definition. In any case the Dutch, British, English, IoM, Welsh and Scottish Open are/were all bigger events than the sodding Gold Cup.
