Itvs was originally called Oracle, then changed to Teletext.

For christ sake. Ceefax was the BBC version, Oracle was the ITV/C4 version before Teletext won the contract I think in the 90s. "Teletext" is now just a generic name, like Tannoy or Hoover.

His 2000 world title had ‘arguably’ a stronger field than the PDC field. It was certainly comparable, unlike the huge gap in recent years.

Ted would have never won in a unified field

Taylor was easily the best player in the world that year.

The likes of Priestley and Part would have also given Ted a tough game.

At a risk of opening up a can of worms. Its possible that would have happened. Majority of the better players were in the BDO and it was not amateur by that. Regardless of what Hankey would have done in a united field. He was superb by all pundits in 2000. Still debates rage on

It shouldn't be a debate though.

Taylor was averaging anywhere between 5-20 points over Hankey up until the final. Even in the final where Taylor posted only a 94 average, he still averaged higher than Hankey did in the BDO final.

What happened in October of 2001 is irrelevant. In January of 2000, Taylor was in a league of his own.

I have no problem with people thinking the BDO had more depth in 2000, but the PDC clearly had the best player. Hankey was never in Taylor's league.
