Re: 2021 World Series
Kuivenhoven, although he beat the heart throb, is deserving of his place. His 2021 form is fantastic given how pathetic he was in late 2020 and he should be on tv more often. Wasn't a million miles from the WGP spots and, if he gains consistency, can charge towards the top 32.
Zonneveld, although ugly throw to watch, isn't overly offensive and certainly better than Walter White Mansell. I'd rather see other players make the Worlds mind but for the World Series he's fine. 107 average very impressive.
Merv is Merv, unlikely to pull up trees but he's entertaining and we might not have him for much longer, so enjoy his presence while it lasts.
Huybrechts can fuck off for beating Raymond Binbell*. That said, he's done well to cling on to the top 32 periphery, when players of his ilk, Klaasen, van de Pas, Chuck Norris etc are all cack these days. Next couple of years make or break for him. Mount a Dolan/VVDV-esque revival or flop like Klaasen, time will tell.
* used Binbell as a pet name a few times but don't think I've explained the context. Comes from Jim Bowen on Bullseye mispronouncing Barneveld as "Binbell" producing much comedy. So now that's it cleared up, here's to more titles, hopefully of the World variety.

On Saturday I had the pleasure of witnessing Oche watch the afternoon session. Remarkable stuff really. Living every dart from the BDO players like it fucking mattered.

Re: 2021 World Series
I'm not surprised that Kuivenhoven is hitting form this year, he was great for most of last year but really tightened up when the reality of keeping his tour card was in sight, he got a massive slice of luck in the late, great Kyle Anderson packing in his tour card, but now that the pressure is off given he's defending fuck all, he's continuing that good form. Zonneveld is no great shakes, but he has gradually got better since we first saw him on the tour in 2019 and is young with the potential to get better, so I can't say I'm disappointed with him. King and Huybrechts are solid top 32 level pros, and can be really good on their day, so good for them. Bring on this stupid, pointless tournament, yay darts!DeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Mon Oct 18, 2021 10:30 pm Kuivenhoven, although he beat the heart throb, is deserving of his place.
