When he was at his best in the 2020 Premier League, he had good consistent scoring (a lot of 140s and 134s) and took out good 100+ or 61+ outshots at good moments to leave opponents flustered.

Re: The woes of the Covidiot Glen Dullard
He gets a lot of snide comments for everyone collapsing against him, but that sort of form is genuinely very hard to deal with, the pressure is always on. Unfortunately for Duzza, he didn't have that crazy gear that the likes of MvG, Price, Wright, and Clayton and Cross at times have, and as such, he needs to be absolutely on it, or else he will be requiring opponents to have a stinkerPT13 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 7:03 pmWhen he was at his best in the 2020 Premier League, he had good consistent scoring (a lot of 140s and 134s) and took out good 100+ or 61+ outshots at good moments to leave opponents flustered.

This.
Duzza had a charmed run in the PL, especially on finals night. Prior to the 2020 Grand Prix, he was top 10 in the world, but not top 5 imo.

He was a battler and a good one at that, Just does not seem to have the fight in him in recent times.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 21, 2021 11:50 pmThis.

It's probably harder to fight when you can't throw naturally.daveboygreen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 1:38 am He was a battler and a good one at that, Just does not seem to have the fight in him in recent times.
Didn't you have the same issue when you tried to throw right-handed?

Re: The woes of the Covidiot Glen Dullard
I played right handed for just over 2 years but not through choice but it opened up a lot of options in my game as in blocking D16 for instance throwing left handed and being able to switch to my right hand throw into what would be a blocked target, I doubt Durrant has any of the issues I had, I just think it is down to confidence and belief with Duzza.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 3:42 amIt's probably harder to fight when you can't throw naturally.daveboygreen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 1:38 am He was a battler and a good one at that, Just does not seem to have the fight in him in recent times.

It sounds like he has the yips and that's what is preventing him from throwing naturally.daveboygreen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 4:05 amI played right handed for just over 2 years but not through choice but it opened up a lot of options in my game as in blocking D16 for instance throwing left handed and being able to switch to my right hand throw into what would be a blocked target, I doubt Durrant has any of the issues I had, I just think it is down to confidence and belief with Duzza.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 3:42 amIt's probably harder to fight when you can't throw naturally.daveboygreen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 1:38 am He was a battler and a good one at that, Just does not seem to have the fight in him in recent times.

I understand the yips can be made worse by tension. So you could be right in a way.

I understand the yips can be related to tension. So you could be right in a way.

Re: The woes of the Covidiot Glen Dullard
I know Mardle has been trying to help him.
It's meant to be caused by overuse of muscles, but anxiety/tension is meant to make it worse. Perhaps if he did reduce the tension somehow he could get over it somewhat. I think Mark Walsh overcome the same issue years ago. But I am guessing really.

Re: The woes of the Covidiot Glen Dullard
When I played Mark and beat him a few years ago we had a good chat about dartitrus etc and he told me a lot of what he went through but it all is a mental block, With myself it was a physical issue but I done a lot of things players with dartitus were doing at the time to get themselves out of it but also a few things they were not doing.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 4:24 amI know Mardle has been trying to help him.

Also in my opinion, Mardle is the worst player to take any advice from.

Re: The woes of the Covidiot Glen Dullard
Mardle aint ever suffered from dartitus or any physical issue as far as im aware of that he has had to deal with and also his own throw was always on the dodgy side, Why on earth he thinks he is in the position to coach others is beyond me.daveboygreen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 4:34 am Also in my opinion, Mardle is the worst player to take any advice from.

It's good for you, mate. I'm struggling to hit even the board with my clumsier left hand.daveboygreen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 4:05 amI played right handed for just over 2 years but not through choice but it opened up a lot of options in my game as in blocking D16 for instance throwing left handed and being able to switch to my right hand throw into what would be a blocked target, I doubt Durrant has any of the issues I had, I just think it is down to confidence and belief with Duzza.sennafan24 wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 3:42 amIt's probably harder to fight when you can't throw naturally.daveboygreen wrote: ↑Fri Oct 22, 2021 1:38 am He was a battler and a good one at that, Just does not seem to have the fight in him in recent times.

Re: The woes of the Covidiot Glen Dullard
I’d be pretty confident Mardle is a good coach, even if he didn’t have a technically sound throw himself, I actually watched a video a couple of years ago talking about players throws and Mardle said it’s only been since he retired that he fixed a massive flaw in his technique whilst he was a pro where he was pulling the dart..
It’s not about changing a dart players fundamentals of their throw anyway as you can’t, it’s just tiny little things, stopping them from walking on the last dart, small technical flaws etc
Devon Petersen is still not playing well but watching him on stream this week his changing of the dart from his left hand to his throwing hand is miles better than it was on the matchplay where he looked fucked, surely that comes down to coaching

If he could get DBG in as his coach, he would have a genuine chance of surpassing Phil Taylor’s World titles..

Did he manage to get higher up the rankings than Bunting then? How about Ian White? Where have these three peaked (so far)?
