Always thought he'd break into the top 16 at some point, had 2 televised 9-darters and that world record average on tour about 5 years ago.

He would have definitely. He was ranked 21 or 22 and in good form a few years ago then got stopped at border control from re-entering the UK coming back from a Euro Tour and missed the PC Finals and World Champs. He never recovered after that. Was the back end of 2016 I think.

I think he was 28th in the world when he had his visa issues before the 2016 Players and 2017 Worlds, but he then went on to have a storming summer/autumn 2017 when he got those issues sorted. Not sure what his highest ranking was, but he was 24th seed the year after, so a good run at the two TV events he missed might have got him up into the top 20 and beyond

Sounds right. I was hazy on the timescale nevermind the rankings. It somehow feels forever ago but when seeing 2016 it doesn't feel right that it was that long ago either
