Kando gives up his tour card
Not really much of a surprise, especially given his new kid, wish him all the best back home Down Under. Kuivenhoven to keep his card after all then

Re: Kando gives up his tour card
Shame but was averaging in the mid 70s last night which probably confirmed his decision, doesn't sound like he's only doing it cos of the pandemic too and plans on coming back, could be done for good

Fair play Kyle. He realised that it wouldn't be worth the hassle and travel given the current situation and his current form. Massive kudos for being selfless and allowing Kuivenhoven to have a deserved second chance and a genuine hope of consolidating a top 64 spot.
Hopefully he bounces back in the future, his game vs Van Gerwen at the Euros was fantastic and had PL potential that season. He'll go down in folklore as a Member of the WC nine dart club. Good luck Kando.

Young enough to regroup for a second bash and plenty good enough to do so via the Oceanic route if and when he chooses.

Re: Kando gives up his tour card
I have a sneaky suspicion we might see Cristo Reyes do something similar. He seems more of the Royden Lam sort though ("hang onto the card" and not play).
If Reyes handed his in we'd see Martin Schindler get a reprieve. That would make the Euro QS field even weaker as you'd expect Üter to walk it convincingly.

Travel issues stopped Reyes last year didn't they?DeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 7:10 pm I have a sneaky suspicion we might see Cristo Reyes do something similar. He seems more of the Royden Lam sort though ("hang onto the card" and not play).

Yeah apparently Tenerife was particularly strict on the border controls. I strongly doubt we'll see him at all in 2021Dfc180 wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 7:38 pmTravel issues stopped Reyes last year didn't they?DeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Sat Feb 06, 2021 7:10 pm I have a sneaky suspicion we might see Cristo Reyes do something similar. Interview with Kyle here from 12:18 to 29:18
https://gooddarts.captivate.fm/episode/ ... e-anderson
In short, has kidney problems, enjoying being a house husband and doesn't sound overly enthusiastic about darts though it does seem like the giving up the card was a decision made quickly off the back of his poor showing the other day so who knows given time.

Kyle is another one of these players, who slowed his throw right down, and got worse...Young enough to come back and have another go in a couple of years, wish him well,,

Re: Kando gives up his tour card
there was a period of a year or 2 where every pro tour weekend he was guarnateed one monster 110+ type average. he'd never really get that far and likely lose the next game with a 91 average but showed flashes of brilliance

Re: Kando gives up his tour card
Always had respect for Kando making the sacrifice to move to the UK to give the PDC a go. He did show flashes of brilliance but lacked consistency. Health has been an issue for him for various reasons. Hopefully and it does seem to be the case the younger new players are getting a clue that health is important.

Always thought he'd break into the top 16 at some point, had 2 televised 9-darters and that world record average on tour about 5 years ago.

That atrocious angle on this throw can't have done him any favours, a lot of players who drop like a stone have some quirk like that.

Re: Kando gives up his tour card
Yeah it's a weird one that. When he hit the 9 vs Ian Shite it was much more straight on, a completely different throw to the one he'd have less than 2 years later. Wasn't really gradual either, it just changed radicay overnight.Potter's Lake wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 1:43 pm That atrocious angle on this throw can't have done him any favours, a lot of players who drop like a stone have some quirk like that.
+1 on the weird quirks as well, van de Pas springs to mind.

Wes Newton always had a bit of a jerky overly leaned in throw another that sunk like a stoneDeepFriedRat wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 1:51 pmYeah it's a weird one that. Re: Kando gives up his tour card
He would have definitely. He was ranked 21 or 22 and in good form a few years ago then got stopped at border control from re-entering the UK coming back from a Euro Tour and missed the PC Finals and World Champs. He never recovered after that. Was the back end of 2016 I think.

Re: Kando gives up his tour card
I think he was 28th in the world when he had his visa issues before the 2016 Players and 2017 Worlds, but he then went on to have a storming summer/autumn 2017 when he got those issues sorted. Not sure what his highest ranking was, but he was 24th seed the year after, so a good run at the two TV events he missed might have got him up into the top 20 and beyondSuperSwede wrote: ↑Fri Feb 12, 2021 5:21 pmHe would have definitely.
