He comes across as a dick at times but has clearly had mental struggles nothing to do with darts so if he gets himself in a better position in that regard and knuckles down then his talent is undoubted and he could still relatively easily in my eyes be a top 16 player if not higher.

This is probably financially motivated though so there is always the risk he will just be happy to do the minimum to earn x per year to top up the pension fund which as mentioned by others has taken a huge hit with no exhibitions this year.

I’ve no idea what Barney is worth but you would have thought with sponsorship deals and exbos prior to Covid, he would be financially secure. When he is eligible to play exbos again surely he could earn enough doing that. What could he demand for an exbo £5-6k ??

We'll see, i would not underestimate Barney. He wasn't that bad, was he? Maybe his mental problems are really over, it can happen to all of us.

The problem was actually most of us over estimated him. Every year it was I'm playing everything and then he doesn't. In his last year he was pretty terrible. Standard wise he was low 90s and wasn't uncommon for him to be in the 80s for spells. Barney was pretty much a 95 or better player consistently before 2019 or 2018.

His mental problems are still there he is just bored I think. Being on lock down with nothing to do has him longing for the adulation of his fans. That longing has made him forget how painful it was to be a middle of the pack pro. He forgot how much work he put in to be just an Avg player.

Seriously Barney will win a card. But I doubt he has the drive to grind it on the pro tour to work his way back in contention for the TV money.
