Had the other majors existed in the beginning the rest of humanity would still be way behind.

When it were a foursome of events, Taylor only(!) did the clean sweep twice: 03/04 and as part of his 9-in-a-row hell on earth sequence in 2008-10.

MvG has done it once: 16/17... and lost all four the next time around.

MvG has taken 29 events to win his 12.

When you look at that list , makes me cringe at the waste of talent that is Adrian Lewis

Opening post updated. Wright makes it 46-46 and joins some right exotic company.

He is the 9th PDC world champion.

The time has come for all humanity combined to overtake Taylor. Easy easy. It will be 47-46 tonight.

Price is yet to win one of these old four classics.
Gurney has the Grand Prix from when he rugby tackled Whitlock.
MVG is looking for a 13th.

And a large chunk of Taylor's era the events were much reduced.
Imagine how many he might have won.

Doesn't bear thinking about. But the others would be catching up much more quickly too. Hey maybe John Lowe would have won one!

That 2002 Matchplay semi with Taylor the night after the 9-darter... amazing. I didn't like Lowe until that night. Sorry.

Hilariously fucked Spineless out of the Matchplay before he "matured" and was purely about "proper darts".

17-15 wasn't it?
His game against Taylor at the tavern in (95?) Remains one of the best standard games I've ever seen.

After checking, his averages during the Matchplay were very respectable for the standards of the time.

Especially considering that the boards were smaller.

The trebles and doubles are at least half as big again now as they were then.
Make no mistake lowe, bristow etc would have chucked monster averages on todays boards
