So no chance for Cullen to be Yorkshire's hero for a night then? Might get a night somewhere though off the back of last night, maybe Nottingham given there aren't any movers and shakers from that neck of the woods

I still dont buy the theory that contenders 2.0 is a shoe-in. 9 players and i feel you will be missing someone of great value off this time.

Before the huge run of big events we already have 6 locked in.

Mvg, Cross, GAndo and Aspinall I dont think anyone will argue that they will be there.

Then we have the two meatheads we know deep down will be there for our sins no matter what, Price and Snakeshite. One because he is "box office" and will make some drama, the other because the crowds are simple fucks and like his clown car crash routine.

Then so far it is looking like Gurney will finish in the top 4 and would probobly be picked anyway for his concistancy, so that makes it 7.

So we have 2/3 spots to go at this early early stage. If anyone remotely unexpected wins or makes the final of an event, who do we start dropping from last year?

Wade seems fine to bin if he stays stagnent, but crowd favourite mensur? WC and matchplay finalist Smith? All that before the Glenda hype train starts if he makes another semi final, which we all know will materialise in the twattersphere.

Just cant see 9 players working, there will almost certainly be 10 worthy players, unlike last year.

They said the contenders idea is very likely to return though? Could we get a regular 10 player field and then a separate contender tournament or something? But then you don't have the aspect of the contenders taking on the big stars.

Pretty wild idea, but some people suggested some legends returning as contenders. Could we have 9 contenders taking on 9 legends? Taylor vs Dobey, Barney v De Zwaan, Part v Dimitri etc?

If they extend each PL an hour to fit it in there will be no complains from me. If they boot out a good player for it then fuck them.

My take as it stands

Gary, Rob, MvG, Asp, Gurney are sure ins.

Then Dufus, the Welsh Fridge Freezer and Smith will most probably get in too.

With regards the other two there are some players who could be in a shout which include Mensur, Whitlock, Fatpot, Cullen and Duzza.

I couldn't see them in if they doubled the size of the field FFS

It depends on what they do at the business end of the season. But aye, I wouldn't expect Whitlock to get in again. I am sure the PDC and SKY would love to have Lewis back in it - but he will have to give them a decent reason to include him.

I honestly think Duzza might get in. But again, he'll have to do well at the Worlds, Players' Championship, and Grand Prix.

Not even sure Lewis would be picked if he was close to it tbh. He averages 80-something in half his games. He's a big name but doesn't seem to be reliable at all. I just don't see him getting back even to where he was 3-4 years ago, let alone his peak.

A Grand Prix final a few months after a Euro title. He's been a top 10 player this year for sure.

Chisnall, this is.

Chizzy is well in contention now. Should be in really if he doesn't fuck up the end of the year totally. Or if he wins this thing tomorrow obviously.

Come to think of it it's not too easy to narrow the picks down to 10. (or is it 9?) Chizzy and Asp look like they should be in, Durrant is in with a strong shout too. Also Sky will want to shoehorn Gando and Wright in the PL, neither of whom would be in based on this year so far. Tough times ahead.

And may I say what a smashing new blouse Dave is wearing.

Anderson and Wright were on the bit of artwork they used to promote the PL tickets the other day. Not that we needed a clue.

Wright is in the top 10 for the year anyway. Just about. Top 13 for the year below.

Cross
MVG
Aspinall
Chisnall
White
Price
Gurney
Durrant
Smith
Wright

Wade

Looking more and more likely that Mensur wont be there, which is a travesty given we know snakeshite will be there.

Well it's good that we have players on the fringes seriously banging on the door, last season there really only were 9 players who deserved the call. Ironically if it were solely down to merit Gando would miss out, but he might be in the top 4 in January anyway

Durrant in capital letters, seems that he's joined #TeamBeppe. He'll put his three Lakeshites down the toilet now that he's graduated to this highly exclusive club of clubs.
