Yeah it seemed logical to give next week's masters champ a spot but when you see Fiss' pic on the previous page... the BDOhdear must be mindful of the risk that someone with Ratajski-style PDC profile (Harris/Portela/Koltsov/Menzies?) wins it and so takes the place of a proper player at the Slam. There are only 5 spots for male mushrooms as it is, surely a record low.

Two or even more years ago he was saying it didn't seem right that BDO players were involved at all in a PDC ranking event. Yet he kept on turning up.

I suspect he is genuinely a bit relieved not to be involved, but not because playing in it violated some grand principles. He just always looked stressed as hell every step of the way, like the whole idea was a bit of an ordeal. Plus his record at the event was becoming, well, would 'embarrassing' be too harsh?
