He was so screwed in his first game, everything else must have come as a bonus too!

Twas good that.

Knowing you'll have to play extremely well for 2 hours in the knowledge of how many times you've fallen horribly at the finishing line before. Takes something.

MVG misses 3 to save set 6 and Wright wins it. Last dart 80. 4-2.

4-3. Bugger me. MVG won't win another. He's about to go apeshit again tho as I remember it.

Very smart man Party, loved that line, how much worse could it have got for Wright? He'd lost 10 finals, and a World final among them, over the moon for him it's made my month, was as ready as I ever could be for MVG to win and until 6 3 I never believed Wright would actually do it, the only other final that I loved more was when Taylor won in 2013, what a way to start off the decade of darts!!

If someone had told me at 4 3 Wright that MVG wouldn't win another set I'd have told them to fuck off and that they didn't know what they were talking about, I can barely believe the win considering the pressure and the occasion but the score is ridiculous, good job I didn't bet on the score would never have thought of that 7 3 Wright score!

Deciding leg of set 8 is amazing. -ly bad. Tense. MVG gets a dart at tops for the set and misses. Wright 50 in two darts. 5-3 vs.

Wright just doesn't miss doubles to let his opponent in. Killing legs stone dead time and time again.

I'm watching the rerun and I'd still be telling them to fuck off. It is amazing.

Just to interrupt Rogg's rerun play-by-play: great graph from Ochepedia showing the difference between the two MVG-Wright finals.

The difference between maiden major finalist Wright and two-time major winner Wright is astounding. 2020 MVG, despite playing better overall, was far more erratic than 2014 MVG.
2020 World Grand Prix Lucky Dip winner!
2x 2019 Q-School Lucky Dip winner!

Both as valuable as the Lakeside piss pot!

Like most people on here , it's actually YOU that needs to fuck off because YOU dont know what you're talking about.
Theres not a person on here predicted ANYTHING correctly bar me of course.
If you told me on Monday that the next day was Tuesday , I'd get a second opinion.

Remember Wright's three at d5. Wire, mile away, in. A cunt's checkout.

Yet another last leg decider. MVG starts 180 on the Wright throw... Randall panics. 177 to leave 100! ...Misses tops and d10. Wright yet another last dart kill. 6-3.

MVG leaves the stage and has to come back. The set score really doesn't reflect much. Set after set going 3-2. MVG has missed dart/s to win I think 3 of Wright's first 6.

Bins d12 for the niner as usual. The pace of this now. Wright the least frantic looking/sounding of anyone.

Dart 2 at the 5s is the hardest, at least with the third you can attack it more. Part of a general theme of Wright bossing the third dart in hand:

I won't spoil the ending but a bleak mini inflatable Sid for MVG to take home and incinerate. Suitably a last dart kill for the title. The first one drew a pound of sawdust out the board.

Rod Studd was emotional. A lot of people have lived it all with Wright down the years. Beautiful tbf.

Definitely a theme. Mardle said Wright was 'stifling' MVG. Leg 1 turned out to be a massive misrepresentation of what was coming, thank Rod.

yeah, and they actually feel the heartbreak first hand and I could tell they didn't really expect him to win, the realisation that he really could on the night, and the joy of seeing him doing it was massive.

Can't quite call it the Ally Pally era, let's go with the 'modern PDC era'?

It's over now but the set of 14 was surely the Barney era.
