Yes. Shaun Greatbatch lost 4 inches of his height as a result, going from 6ft 5ins to 6ft 1in.
Greatbatch was the first person to hit a live televised 9-dart finish. I didn't know about it until many months later, after Phil Taylor's at the 2002 World Matchplay. Sid Waddell got into a fight with a Dutch journalist over it apparently, and made a quip in commentary the next day of "Shaun Greatbatch did a televised 9-darter a few months back in front of dozens of people, and they had a whip round". John Lowe was also quietly fuming, later revealed in his autobiography, feeling that his 9-dart finish (the first televised 9-dart finish) from the 1984 MFI World Matchplay was being ignored. Lowe got to the semi finals of the 2002 World Matchplay, where Lowe gave Taylor a big scare before Taylor won 17-15.
