It's funny how people have been saying for years Michael Smith will win a big one, and of all people Nathan Aspinall rocks up and beats him to it. Fair play Nathan, the averages weren't great I don't think but he deserved it on the night. Thought he could have a run, but never expected him to win it.

Nathan Aspinall - 2019 UK Open Champion

Take a while to get used to that.

Congrats to Aspinall. Third player to win it without having been seeded into the latest possible round.

Cocaine thread needs to be bumped back up. Aspinall has changed his life for the better.

Not Thornton. Wade in '11 and Taylor in '13.

Best UK Open in ages, and I can't point to a UK Open that is bad. Definitely the best at Minehead.

Asp is a legend, and that 170 out to win the competition is just fantastic.

The drama of the Cross-Smith match had done Cross in, he looked like he just wanted it over about half way through the match. Asp had the stamina which is vital at the UK Open. It says a lot that Taylor only won it 5 times.

Thornton would have entered in before the big boys here, although back then of course they had the qualifiers
