Re: 2019 European Tour
48 entries for 2 spots? Last year the qualifier for 6 spots usually got similar entries didn't it? And that was including the card holders. Or what am I missing?

Re: 2019 European Tour
If last year is anything to go by we should expect to see the draw for the 1st/2nd rounds of ET1 sometime this afternoon, innit?

Yeah, the draw is just before the qualifiers. Think the qualifiers are starting at 5 UK time, though I'm not sure which one is on first

Re: 2019 European Tour
Having the home nations first makes sense I guess, they take less time to travel. Though if their one is later they don't have to take the day off. I'm sure Ginge will be here in a minute to tell us which is the correct approach

Re: 2019 European Tour
The first two ET events of last year had nearly 70 players in the European qualifiers, with around 20 of those being tour card holders, so non-tour card numbers are pretty consistent with that (though it fell to the mid-50s for German events towards the middle of the season, and then down to 40 for the last 2). However, it might be seen as a disappointing figure when you consider that for the 8 German events last year, there was an average of about 1 associate qualifier getting in per event. On paper, this is an easier opportunity, yet numbers are roughly the same.
As a side note, naturally, the non-German events saw more entries for the Euro qualifiers, and more associates got in (15 non-tour card holders in the 5 events), so I wonder how many entries those qualifiers will get seeing as on paper, they will be harder than last year

We will see, But its unfair that all UK Associate qualifiers cant have a crack at this but all Euro Associate ones can

Re: 2019 European Tour
On the flip side, if you're a non-British/Irish associate player, you have no choice but to play in this even if you played UK Q-School and are based in Britain. Someone like, say, Mike de Decker is lucky in the sense that if he were British or Irish he wouldn't be able to play in UK qualifier, but Portela, who is based up north, has to fly out to Germany to try to qualify while a number of players below him on the Challenge Tour OoM are able to play in the UK one. I know the issue would be gone for players like him if they won a tour card, but it's one of those things that the PDC didn't really think throughoche balboa wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 2:04 pmthegentle wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 1:44 pmThe first two ET events of last year had nearly 70 players in the European qualifiers, with around 20 of those being tour card holders, so non-tour card numbers are pretty consistent with that (though it fell to the mid-50s for German events towards the middle of the season, and then down to 40 for the last 2). Re: 2019 European Tour
I expect to see the same dropoff, perhaps even more. It's an untested concept and I'm guessing there are a bunch of players who now fancy their chances with the tour card holders gone, but who'll quickly find out that their 80 averages aren't gonna cut it in this depleted environment either.thegentle wrote: ↑Thu Mar 21, 2019 1:44 pmThe first two ET events of last year had nearly 70 players in the European qualifiers, with around 20 of those being tour card holders, so non-tour card numbers are pretty consistent with that (though it fell to the mid-50s for German events towards the middle of the season, and then down to 40 for the last 2). Re: 2019 European Tour
The draws are up now. No sign of De Vos in the associate qualifier. He did enter.

Re: 2019 European Tour
Interested how Jirkal v Borland plays out in the afternoon, both are debutants if I'm correct. The evening has a few interesting ties indeed.
