It'll be quite pathetic if multiple card holders don't enter the first weekend of Players Championships. Boris is in place to enjoy immediate CT benefits if they do.

Ashton is better than Waites after 4 events.

Lol. I'm disappointed in Hinges, and it takes a lot to achieve that state in 2019. This is normally where somebody claims he's been out of form for 18 months...

All the Scottish players will be requesting an exemption into the Scottish Open instead of PC 3/4 this year.

But seriously, I hope Koltsov and the others are aware that the entry deadline for PC 1/2 is already on Tuesday.

That said, Koltsov's the preferred option as winner, of course.

Seen a suggestion that they could start the 2nd event 9f the day as soon as the 1st event is around the last 32 stages. A decent idea though not sure if it would completely solve the problem.

Having 1 event a day with more prize money seems the obvious fix, maybe ask what the players think about it I guess

Mind you, the first few PC events are a few days after Premier League nights, MOST of that particular field are not in any dire need to do well on the ProTour.

Edit: last year, just 4 skipped PC1-2. Norman and Lam are no longer tour card holders, Suljovic had Premier League, and curiously enough Kevin Burness didn't show up to what would have been his first PC event as a tour card holder. Probably had work I guess

I'm sure some players are moaning, simply because it's over 250 people and somebody is always moaning. But this has been going on for years now at the CT events early in the season, if anyone still hasn't figured out that they'll have to skip the second tournament on Sunday if they can't afford to stick around until the evening it's their own fault. Either way, asking everybody to show up on Friday already so that some players aren't inconvenienced by having to travel back on Monday would be kinda idiotic.

Nevertheless, it might be necessary for the PDC to address the issue anyway, because they can't keep pushing up the start time much further. These tourneys used to finish past 10pm from a noon start, now they're there from a 10.30 start.

One suggestion that I have heard over the weekend was to cap it to 128 players, which would help solve the problem of the length of the event. It was suggested limiting it to the top 128 from QS OOM that didn't get a card. Not sure if it a better suggestion than holding it over ten weekends with two events. I suppose, one of the biggest issues for the players is their full time jobs. It would be difficult for many to arrange ten weekends off, as opposed to the current five weekends.

Don't think I'd be in favour of limiting the field to 128. I think players should put up with this or accept 1 event a day.

Yeah, I was in favour of the two event weekend spread over ten weekends as it gives the players more consistent more match time spread over the year and also helps the players if they qualify for an ET event, like Cammy and Ratty did last year, as they would only miss two CT events as opposed to four. It is a bit of a catch 22 situation really as there could be more players having to miss weekends if it was spread over the ten weekends.

I was listening to Mason discussing it with Warriner yesterday, and neither had the answer on how to change it really, they were discussing the players that are getting sub 50 averages and whether they should be clogging up the events more than anything else...
One suggestion that Mason had about QS was a cut, after two rounds, similar to golf, which may be an idea, but for example, that would have cut KP out of the event and he ended up one game away from a tour card..

I am sure that PDC will look at the CT if the majority of the players think it is an issue.

Also, one of the CT event winners this weekend wouldn't have been there at all with any sort of entry restriction. As long as the PDC sees the CT simply as a "place to play" rather than a truly professional tour, that's just not going to happen. They're not gonna leave any players out in the cold altogether.

And basing entry restrictions on Q School performance specifically makes no sense at all as long as QS itself has so many structural problems. A cut after just two tournaments may be the worst idea I've ever heard for that, in any case. (Even the Q Schools in golf typically don't have one...)

Not in favour of a Q School anyway. It’s a lottery (There you go bradders) But it’s not going away

Challenge Tour I believe should be a rigid 128 player. 2nd tier tour with the guys below being reserves.

Aaron Turner
Reece Colley
Mike Warburton
Mike Fletcher

Still for all his failures plenty would love to have his list of TV titles. But last few years he has been shite outside of Lakeside

A 4 day lottery based on your ability, you couldn't make it up!
