I fear Smith will roll over whoever it is.
Fear the same. The talent is there but mentally he doesnt seem up for it..
I'd love to be wrong and to see another new winner but mentally I'm not convinced

11-9 to Anderson, with Doggy not too far behind. I didn't think it would be that close. Ando's bleating all year long has cost him support and like he gives a fuck, lol.

It could be MVG's turn to win near sod all during a season and end it as world champion...

If he wins he will be back up to 1.6m and further ahead of the ranked number 2 than he was at the start of the season, due to Cross and Crusty winning sod all, and the majors being shared out amongst the top ten

Since the Order of Merit was introduced after the 2007 World Championship, the only world number 1s have been:

Phil Taylor (January 2007 - January 2008; June 2008 - January 2014)
Raymond van Barneveld (January 2008 - June 2008)
Michael van Gerwen (January 2014 - Present Day)

Remarkable that Lewis and Ando both had 2 World Winners cheques on the OOM for 12 months but neither reached Number 1. With the increase since 2016, it would be literally impossible now.

Also Rogg, 'near sod all' by MvG's standards is the Masters, Premier League, Grand Prix, World Cup, 8 European Tour titles plus 6 of the 11 Pro Tours/UK Open Qualifiers that he bothered to play.

For the want of any ability to post like a normal person, I was hoping to draw attention to the fact that somebody has won a pile of big titles in the year of his life - Open, Matchplay, Champions League - and missed out on the big one.

While that's the kind of thing that has happened to MVG in the past and he stands there of a December midninght holding his coat and blubbing that he'd swap the lot for the big one, that boot is somewhat on Anderson's foot this time (like he cares).

While if MVG becomes world champ tomorrow, it'll be on the back of his poorest season for some time. It's a funny old thing.

I got what you meant Rogg, just a funny way to put it. :)

By the way, do you have a short summary of what Chizzy has won in his career?

Nothing worth the dead skin cells they wiped off The Sid Waddell Trophy this morning. :)
