Heh, yeah. As far as I can tell he's currently on £85,750 for next year's Ally Pally cutoff date. Top 32 this year is at least £134,250, and likely to be higher again next time. (I'm assuming there are prize money increases coming on the tour for next season, as there weren't any this year.) Unless he does a lot more of the tour or has at least one really major TV run - SF at the worlds, or a final at one of the other events - he's going to fall short. And as for those other TV events, he's of course not actually qualified for anything outside the UK Open.

An Ally Pally QF may be keeping him close enough to the top 16 that he could make it into the Matchplay with relatively little further effort.

Burton posted earlier that he is 58k behind fatpot for number 16 spot and 9.5k behind last pro tour spot for next years matchplay

Looks like I'm alone on here, at least until skweezit next gets day release, but I'm totally up for a Barney farewell tour.

The BBC are on this one too.

Numbers are probably wrong by now, but some comments. Starting with a nice sensible one.

Will any betting company be offering odds on van Barneveld going back on his word and not actually retiring in 12 months?

A draw, yes. 7-7.

The night began with Barney doing the 9-dart against Manley. Lovely stuff.

I think Chizzy destroying him at the 2012 UK Open was the beginning of the end. He never recovered after that.

When Barney moved to the PDC in 2006, him and Taylor won nearly every TV tournament from May 2006 - July 2007.

2006 International Darts League: Raymond van Barneveld (Taylor lost to Whitlock in quarter finals)
2006 World Series of Darts: Phil Taylor (Barney didn't play)
2006 Premier League: Phil Taylor (Barney lost to Scholten in semi finals)
2006 UK Open: Raymond van Barneveld (Taylor lost to Barney in quarter finals)
2006 Las Vegas Desert Classic: John Part (Barney beat Taylor in semi finals, lost to Part in final)
2006 World Matchplay: Phil Taylor (Barney lost to Hamilton in qualifier)
2006 World Darts Trophy: Phil Taylor (Barney lost to van Gerwen in Last 32)
2006 World Grand Prix: Phil Taylor (Barney lost to Taylor in Last 16)
2007 World Championship: Raymond van Barneveld (Taylor lost to Barney in final)
2007 Masters of Darts: Raymond van Barneveld (Taylor finished 5th out of 5 players in England Group)
2007 International Darts League: Gary Anderson (Taylor eliminated in second group; Barney lost to O'Shea in quarter finals)
2007 US Open: Phil Taylor (Barney lost to Taylor in final)
2007 Premier League: Phil Taylor (Barney lost to T. Jenkins in semi finals)
2007 UK Open: Raymond van Barneveld (Taylor lost to Barney in quarter finals, by 4-11 in legs)
2007 Las Vegas Desert Classic: Raymond van Barneveld (Taylor lost to Dudbridge in Last 32)

At this point, I was thinking that Raymond van Barneveld could dominate the PDC unless Phil Taylor did something fast, starting at the World Matchplay. As it happened, James Wade won the 2007 World Matchplay. Barney wouldn't win another singles TV tournament until the 2012 Grand Slam of Darts, which is incredible.

From memory it was big RvB who snatched a draw, I am sure he went into a 3-1 lead before Taylor overtook him and i think Barney had to
come back from 7-4 or 7-5 down.

Yeah. Taylor led 7-4, and Barney got it back to 7-7. The second match was on Barney's 39th birthday (20 April 2006), and Taylor won 8-6. During the 2006 Premier League league phase, Taylor and Barney defeated every other opponent every time, including Barney winning 3 matches on the final league night in Reading. Taylor vs. Barney in the final seemed a certainty, but then Scholten beat Barney 11-3 in the semis, averaging 104.

Well, someone had to ask it, if Barney had been in the PDC all along, how many titles do him and Taylor win? Would Barney have won many more, or would Taylor have merely broken him at an earlier stage?
