MVG having a shit year the end or the start?

Is MVG on a downward slope or is in a bad patch this year and can turn it round? I say this and he has won around 17ish titles this year! I have called out Cross I am doing the same with MVG. Too many shit games with awful finishing and scoring this year. One thing I would say is they play so many times you can lose form. I think he might turn it around but you can never be sure!

He currently holds one tv major that he defends in wolves.
If that goes South as well.....

I think he is certainly capable of turning it around.
However, as Gando mentioned recently, players are not scared of him anymore so I don't think he will have it easy. I cannot ever see him dominate like he did in 2016 but he his certainly capable of winning all the majors as well as capable of crashing out first round.
He looks almost bored at times and seems to switch off more than he used to
His doubling and set up has been poor.
Is it al in his head??
Its going to be a big end of year for him and it is possible he could actually lose the number 1 spot but I get the feeling he will win at least one of the majors

Always hides after an mvg loss.

MvG whilst can be brilliant and better than Taylor at his peak is also suspect to poor patches in games unlike Taylor. The ability is without question the consistency however is still an issue.

Then he's only thirty with many years ahead and every chance of being the greatest player ever

Do you not remember the PDC importing jobbers just to make up the numbers?

You cannot compare the early PDC titles with now as you cannot compare the current BDO with the pre split days. Simply isn't like with like

It isn't, but with taylor gone it doesn't seem overly rosy looking at the pl thread.

Look again at his path to the 2017 Worlds. Players you criticise all the time were throwing the kitchen sink at him.

The number of players around nowadays who are sensationally good on their day is very high. These players don't need to be 'consistent' year in year out - which is the only quality you value - in order to give anybody a damn good cunting of an evening at Ally Pally or Blackpool. These championships nowadays are minefields from start to finish, especially Ally Pally. Very nasty.

It's all the more difficult to win then.

The point as I see it is there's real strength in depth now which wasn't there when Taylor mopped up in the early days

Here he was in 2017.

(103.34) Michael van Gerwen 3-0 Kim Viljanen (81.50)
(105.24) Michael van Gerwen 4-2 Cristo Reyes (106.07)
(104.44) Michael van Gerwen 4-1 Darren Webster (99.20)
(103.08) Michael van Gerwen 5-1 Daryl Gurney (98.52)
(114.05) Michael van Gerwen 6-2 Raymond van Barneveld (109.34)
(107.79) Michael van Gerwen 7-3 Gary Anderson (104.93)

Obvs Reyes is going backwards, Webster is hot and cold, Gurney is overrated, Barney peaked in 2007, Anderson is inconsistent.

And all, with a pile of others, absolute mustard when they're on it.
