In summary.
It's times like this you almost wish ifm were still available over the road for catastrophic reaction value re THEY KILLED THE FA CUP OF DARTS YEARS AGO AND NOW THEY'VE FINALLY BOOTED THE CORPSE DOWN THE SEWER. Logging out in a minute don't worry.

Re: 2019 calendar/big news/announcements coming up
Good news for the CT players.
Bearing in mind top 2 get a tour card, basically top 18 finish will get them into UK open.
Realistically you would expect a few of them to earn a card at QS so it could mean a finish of 21/22nd on CT OOM could be good enough. A great incentive for the last 8 events

Huge news. Another step towards integrating the whole system with the Challenge Tour qualification aspect.Rogg wrote:In summary.
Also gives the Riley's qualifiers a lot more value now there's half of them. Although no doubt Paul Hogan will win one again, impress at Minehead and do nothing for the rest of the year either side of the divide

nice move by the pdc.
enticement levels to go to q-school rise.
one win in the luck of the draw format and you've made your q-school money back, all without having to face any of the top 32.

Except for the whole "needing to win a tour card at QS first" part... And it's probably still going to take two wins to get into the money at the UK Open.skweezit wrote:nice move by the pdc.

should have for more clarity, I guess.
what do you think, the 16 Rileys Amateur Qualifiers vs the 16 qualifiers from the 2018 PDC Unicorn Challenge Tour Order of Merit are going to be the only ones in round one?

Round 1: 16 Rileys qualifiers, 16 CT players, the lowest 32 ranked Tour Card holders
Round 2: 32 winners from Round 1 and the Tour Card Holders ranked 65 through 96.
Round 3: 32 winners from Round 2 and the Tour Card Holders ranked 33 through 64. Losers get 1k
Round 4: 32 winners from Round 3 and the Tour Card Holders ranked 1 through 32. Losers get £2k
Round 5: 32 winners from Round 4. Losers get £4k
Round 6: 16 winners from Round 5, Losers get £7.5k
etc....

Definitely time to bring back the Red Button. How good was it when you could pick any match to watch?

Re: 2019 calendar/big news/announcements coming up
Not sure how I feel about these changes to be honest. Sure the bigger prize fund is great and more benefits to having a tour card is always welcomed, as is the inclusion of the CT players. The tournament itself felt second tier indeed since moving to ITV, now this move does restore a bit of prestige and places the Open on par with the big majors.
At the same time I really liked the qualifying system, I'm kinda disappointed that they have been scrapped for more PC events. The qualifiers felt like a PC anyway with even more value to them, because the UK Open incentive. I feel this move really protects the household names as well as out of form players, who would otherwise struggle to qualify or get to the top 32.

Bottom line this adds even more value to a Tour Card
When you actually feel anger over a place like this it's time to get a life

It may be that there will be 32 seeds and the remaining 128 start off in round oneThe Ginge Reaper wrote:Will probably be.skweezit wrote:I almost added "with the tourcard", zeyes.Zeyes wrote:Except for the whole "needing to win a tour card at QS first" part... 64 winners play round 2 and start getting cash (1k) with the 32 winners joining the 32 seeds in round 3
Pdc new prize breakdown says 1k for last 96. If this is the format then players will only have to win one game to get a cash return.. I think that this may be the way the format goes as PDC have stated that they still want to keep it like the FA up of Darts. This way it is less complicated
