It probably will, it will just be somewhere like Antalya.

Unterbuchner in the GS is a welcome addition, though it'd be kinda funny to see Parletti smashed

Could have said the same about Montgomery last year and he played all right :D

Be interesting to see Robson for the comedy value but more often than not, the floor qualifiers aren't exactly intimidating either

The PDC Nordic/Baltic tour ends in October, right? If Darius were to fail to qualify for Ally Pally through that, he wouldn't have any other methods of qualification, would he? I ask because he'd be cutting it fine to get to Lakeside as it is

He has a confident lead so I think he'll make Ally Pally from the Nordic/Baltic tour. Though to me it's not clear whether he is eligible to enter the PDPA qualifier

Tour card holders only for the PDPA qualifier this year, unless they re-revise the rules again between now and November.

Given at least 64 will qualify by right, if not more, it's not going to be a huge event then.
Big changes on the way ! We've heard it before but it's different this time !!!! , I believe Bdo gonna grow x

Longer format planned though than the usual best of 9:

First Round to Quarter Finals - Best of 11 legs.
Quarter Finals - Best of 13 legs.
Semi Finals - Best of 15 legs.

I think they're missing a trick by not extending invitations to, say, the top 16 of the Challenge Tour OOM. Would give a bit of extra value to that tour. Then again, with the Worlds expansion, who knows what the PDPA qualifier will look like next year. This year's restriction to tour card holders was announced long before.

Hopefully next year it will be gone entirely.

That confident lead has been slashed of late though, he's only €750 clear of 3rd now. I mean he'd still back himself to make it, but he's well within striking distance with two more events to go, and there are certainly no gimmes on that circuit

He reasoned that they didn't have enough top players to run a "world championship" (or something like that)

But this time it really does feel that the BDO and Lakeshite are about to crumble. With CH4 dropping them, the Jacklins running the show, etc, it's difficult to imagine them lasting much longer.
The Lakeshite tourney has long been at the mercy of Potter's willingness to stump up big money for it, and that has (at least presumably) always been at the mercy of the BDO having a big-ticket TV channel to show it on. They've been on borrowed time ever since the BBC dumped them.

Even if Channel 4 does re-sign in the end, I would suspect they'll pay less for it than the last time around. The overall product is in worse shape than two years ago, and Lakeshite now doesn't even have the lingering BBC exposure factor going for it that it did for the 2017 edition. It's now just some darts tournament that Channel 4 happens to show.
The last Lakeside on the BBC was in 2016 when Scott Waites said to Bobby George "If I pull your chain, will you flush?".

The slowest death in history.
Do you think they are worth the up front 1 million now? Upsetting to think of the lost comedy if they'd just done accepted that in the fuckn first place.
Wasn't worth it then
Uncle Barry said recently he was relieved they had turned him down as it would have been a waste of money.
At the time it would have been worth the £1m as Uncle Barry would never have presided over the clusterfuck that followed. We'd never have heard of Warren Brown
Heck, even Olly Croft wouldn't have gotten involved with Warren Brown. Remember that Croft was removed as head of the BDO at their 2011 AGM, after 38 years in charge. Had Croft stayed on, I believe the BDO's decline would have been slower and more orderly, but the BDO board could feel the ground moving beneath their feet. Instead of helping them, removing Croft accelerated the BDO's decline. Less than 5 years later, getting involved with Warren Brown and Deluxe along with Lakeside then being dropped by the BBC massively increased the BDO's decline on the road to ruin.

:) pleasing memories of utter bewilderment on the balcony and across the land as the plug was pulled forever.
An appalling final Waites-Smith was too, one of the worst few there for sure.
