Now your saying people shouldn't work too hard, make your fucking mind up..
I'm saying more means less quality.
If you can afford to take a year out of life and practice darts for 8 hours a day you could probably be world ranked number 60 in Barry Hearns world.

I've never been able to stand the man but from a competitive standpoint, this tournament missed Phil Taylor for me.

Too many shithouses like Smith who are raved about but shit themselves when it matters. The likes of Price, Gurney, Wright etc are a pitiful bunch. If you can't get yourself up for a world championship then you should do one.

Guaranteed Taylor could have pulled his darts out the case and made the final this year in sheer will to win alone. The current bunch need to be looking at themselves because they will let MvG saunter to 6 or 7 world titles and some really shitty world finals at this rate even though he's clearly dropped a level.

I could have understood it if MVG had played like he did against Anderson but Smith should have won at least 2 more sets, on a good day 4, what a chance missed, that could damage him for the rest of the year, he knows all the work he puts in may not be worth it long term because he can't get over the line in tournaments even if he gets to the final. As long as MVG plays a little better than this year he'll be back in dominant control again because so many players are scared of him and unless he plays his A plus game MVG he's nowhere near the consistency of Taylor.

Think you'll get your wish with Nicho, be surprised if he even gets a Tour Card.

Merv however seems to have entered Beaton territory of 1 decent Pro Tour run per year, so he will be around for a while I fear.

Great Post... I never liked Taylor as a bloke but his will to win would put this lot to shame. Funny how he rarely gets a mention on comms. Exactly what I've been saying in previous posts. Maybe the strength in depth of the prize money and ammount of tournaments had softened the players when being 25th in the world earns you way more than being a bank manager.

Can't be arsed with it at all. The 'I should be 5-0 up' gesturing from Smith this evening epitomises this current bunch of players. Delusional with a side of piss weak temperament. Shoulda, woulda, coulda.

Do you think it's the money or this generation with their sense of entitlement?
I gave people an insight earlier into the St Helens players, they are all a bunch of fat soft shites who've never worked for a living... Ever

Granted, the Worlds is the most important event, maybe the pressure got to them, but it's easy to bemoan the current crop when MvG wins easily, but it's been a very competitive year. What happens if next time a Smith or Gurney type nudge ahead of MvG at the start? Don't think we especially missed Taylor in this event

Yeah that's my only worry long term for Darts, so much money affects motivation, the drive to win isn't as high as it should be unless your MVG talented, players now can lead a great life seeing all sorts of places that previously only Barney, Taylor and Wade could do 10 or more years ago, and places and life experiences that would normally only apply to higher earning sportsmen not lowly darts players. Then there are players who are content with their work ethic, try at majors, have a piss up and fuck about with their mates, collect their cash and do exhibitions and enjoy themselves, the ruthless pros who were desperate to win appear to be all gone which is a shame, good job I still love watching the actual darts because the money side of it leaves me cold when it comes to the World Championships at least.
