Re: Eric Bristow RIP
Eric was flawed as many sublime talents are, also bitter to a degree that dartitis stopped him at his peak. He was also a true darting legend, one of very few

Deller on the radio earlier. Spotting for Sky last night, said Matt Porter called him and the producer out of the truck after the first match to tell them Eric had collapsed and it wasn't looking good. Carried on spotting with his head all over the place.
Also said Bristow was certain he wouldn't live to be an old man. Sure I remember Eric saying that he didn't know how he was still alive and this was about ten years ago.

There is an interview with bg on the BBC website where he said Eric told him "nobody would be pushing him around in a wheelchair"

"I don't want to be the richest man in the graveyard"
Whatever can be said about his conduct on Twitter in recent years, he was meant to be a gent in person. I have spoken to a few people who met him at exbos, and they said he was sound.
As a player, he was a bit before my time. I am not going to pretend that I watched him in his prime. However, I appreciate the influence he had on the game. I also appreciate that he was the best player of his time, and probably in the top 3 players ever. I loved him as a pundit on SKY. He also used to be a riot on comms:
"Paul Nicholson? I am more Australian than he is"
"Peter Wright has the funniest Scottish accent I have ever heard"
"Norris thinks he's back at Lakeside" (after Norris had missed multiple doubles)

Even with Eric's various habits and lifestyle, it's quite amazing that Olly Croft has outlived him.

88 to 60...while it's not a white wash it's certainly a resounding win for Olly in the game of life.

The 2nd greatest Darts player ever without doubt, had true bottle, great sportsman and person, not scared to say how he felt! I was a huge Jocky fan but warmed to Eric as the years rolled on,taken far too soon of course, but never forgotten.
