De Zwaan was the last player in. Ratajski takes his place by virtue of having won 2 PC events.
As if this saga couldn't get any sillier.

Ratajski makes it but in the least expected way possible.
I wonder did qualifying for the Grand Slam even cross his mind this weekend? Did he even know he could qualify by this route?
I really doubt it he thought about what could happen if he were to win both events

Maybe they mentioned it in passing about this year, but I haven't heard of it. I think it's a new rule, wasn't Adie ahead of Cross on the ProTour qualification list last year up until Cross got to the final of the Euros?
I recall it was done on OoM last year so pretty certain its a new rule

I was just off to look for that. Ratajski is in, not sure if he realises yet. I'll now start moaning about de Zwaan instead. Poor Jeffrey.

To quote Ochepedia:

"That could be very strange: de Zwaan qualifying for 2017 Grand Slam after a terrible year, and then failing to qualify after reaching the Matchplay semifinal and winning a title."

Yes, that rule was added for 2018.

In case you've forgotten Adrian's performances in Wolverhampton, here are a few choice results from his last few times:

Scott Mitchell 5-1 Adrian Lewis
Chris Dobey 5-3 Adrian Lewis
Benito van de Pas 5-2 Adrian Lewis
Rowby-John Rodriguez 5-2 Adrian Lewis
Keegan Brown 5-1 Adrian Lewis
Ronny Huybrechts 5-3 Adrian Lewis
Tony O'Shea 5-4 Adrian Lewis
If Ratty wins does he go to grand slam ?
No because his Order of Merit ranking is too low.

He WOULD be going to the Grand Slam had the PDPA not erased his World Masters title because he went to Ally Pally straight after he won it. An absolutely nonsensical decision.
He has been brilliant this weekend...
A fitting end to his season as it seemed like everything was against him getting to the GS.
Hopefully JdZ will get in as cadby looks very unlikely

That's a brutal draw. MVG, Anderson, Cross and Mensur in the same half. A big opportunity for some in the top half to get to a final. So probably another Wright choke job, let's hope not.

And of course he'll have found a third or possibly fourth way (can't remember!) of not qualifying for the Grand Slam.
It'd be the fourth if he won.

1. Erased from BDO history by the PDPA for being PDC switching scum
2. Won the final ever UK Open qualifier, the lowest-ranked PDC tournament there is
3. Wins a Players Championship but is too low ranked to be a qualifier
4. Can't enter the Grand Slam qualifier as it's for Tour Card holders only

Failing to win a card in January is proving to be a big problem for Ratty.
Bloody hell. I feel like he can invent a few more ways between now and November...
Winner!! He got in after all that and then out again.

Now what's needed is for the Cadby situation to save him in midweek and then someone to knock him out again at the World Series Finals. Absolutely ridiculous. :D

Lovely stuff.

Who's Anderson playing in Round 1? I hope they've run it by him first.
