Will James Wade ever win the World Championship?

Between about 2007 and 2011, James Wade was clearly one of the top three players in the PDC, alongside Phil Taylor and Raymond van Barneveld. Over this time, he won most of the major PDC tournaments at least once, with the notable exception of the World Championship where he consistently underperformed. During his pre match interviews at the World Championship over this period, Wade often said "I will win it one day". At the time, few would have thought his self confidence was misplaced. Indeed, in the 2008 World Matchplay final, Sid Waddell predicted James Wade would become a seven time world champion. However, during this golden period Wade would never even make a world final.

In recent years, Wade's once lethal finishing has gone into gradual decline, while the strength in depth at the top of professional darts has improved markedly. As a result, he finds himself struggling to cling onto a top 10 place in the world rankings and without a major title in four years. His chances of finally winning the World Championship in the near future look pretty grim, but we should remember he is still young enough to have round 20 more attempts at it.

His best chance was in 2012 when draftgate happened. Was 5-1 up against Lewis and he would have probably beaten Hamilton in the final. Nowadays, no chance really.

To give this a serious post, if Wade can work on his game, there's a fair few 45+ year olds at the top who could make way for him to squeak another major in the next decade or so. Not the Worlds though.

Lewis will win a few I think. Not many. Remember that in the worlds of 2016, when making the wc final, he wasn't that far off. That can't be all gone now surely..

Lewis indeed played well for a few months back then. Worlds and PCF finals, and a couple other good runs on telly.
But that was 2 years ago and now it seems like he just lacks the consistency to be a contender. Since then he's done fuck all, apart from his two decent showings in Blackpool.

I'd like to see him back to his best, as at his peak he's a brilliant player, and awesome to watch in full flow. However his attitude doesn't seem to be all that good, and I presume family is the priority for Adrian now.

Spot on. His attitude seems totally different now. He now seems to be one of those players who is only interested in playing the likes of MvG ,Gando and Wright etc. He seems to almost not care when he is playing a lesser player. The issue is, the way his rankings are heading he won't get many opportunities to play the likes of MvG. Such a waste of natural talent

Too late to do so in my opinion.... After Windgate Wade's career seem to have taken the downwards slide despite winning the Masters in 2014 and getting to the Matchplay final the year after....
