I'm going to mention one of his best as the 2008 Premier League semi final against Lewis in Cardiff, an 11-1 win with a 113 average. It doesn't get mentioned much. And yes, the World Grand Prix finals against Part were excellent, especially that crazy period in the 2003 final where it was a close 2-2 in sets match, and then Taylor raced away with the next 12 legs with a crazy standard.Randall wrote:PT13, what would you consider to be Taylors best ever performance?
Many talk about the matchplay and gsod games with Lewis or the 09 worlds but for me it would be be the grand prix finals against part.
Ludicrous average on a much more challenging board.
PT have you ever masterbaited watching Taylor?
My memory suggests he was going off 160 with some frequency in that period of the game. Factor in the board that wins for me. I don't remember the place semi final. Suppose the PL final against wade has to be mentioned.PT13 wrote:It's really hard to pick just one. Taylor clearly had it on tap in 01,ready to go when needed.Jobber wrote:Has anyone posted "John Walton would have beat him in 2001" yet?
Maybe in the Grand Prix, which has a bit of a tradition of shock first round defeats for Taylor (Painter, Callaby, Gray etc).Captain Hobo wrote:Considering John Boy was unseeded that year, in a unified field he may have played Taylor in Rd 1.Jobber wrote:Has anyone posted "John Walton would have beat him in 2001" yet?

At the 2005 UK Open. In a race to 11 legs, Part led Taylor 4-0, 7-1 and 10-6. Taylor walked off at 10-10, thinking there was a break, as there had been after legs 5, 10 and 15. Part was fuming for the brief period that Taylor was off stage. Taylor won 11-10, and went on to win the tournament, winning 4 matches in a day. Part got his own back at the 2005 World Matchplay, beating Taylor 16-11 after trailing 1-4.Randall wrote:Where was the taylor v part game where he was miles behind, got level then fucked off the stage before the decider?
Yes, so it was, remember the game but not the venue.PT13 wrote:At the 2005 UK Open. In a race to 11 legs, Part led Taylor 4-0, 7-1 and 10-6. If he was unseeded, then there is a chance he wouldn't have even qualified in a unified field.Captain Hobo wrote:Considering John Boy was unseeded that year, in a unified field he may have played Taylor in Rd 1.Jobber wrote:Has anyone posted "John Walton would have beat him in 2001" yet?

taylors averages
94 97 103 103 107
highest average thrown against him was 97 in the second round, after that the competition was low 90s but in light of his performance understandable.
i remember the final, wasnt like part played badly.
in the bdo event hankey and walton played very well throughout throwing higher averages than anything taylor had faced but not matching him.
taylor was unbeatable this year for me.
