Re: Really?
Boxing is arguably the most messed-up pro sport anyway. Heck, its "governing bodies" basically do nothing except take money for allowing boxers the right to wear their title belts. Nearly all the actual work is done by the promoters who run the fight cards. Small wonder then that many of the people on the promoting side aren't on the up and up...there's next to no oversight in the sport.sennafan24 wrote:He was no more corrupt than other promoters.fandarts wrote:most bent promoter in boxing........

I was there that night. Only the 2nd boxing event I have attended.fandarts wrote:lot dodgy results last few years........froch groves 1 springs to minds, had foster paid off
It was an early stoppage. Everyone knew it on the night. However, when I got home and watched the TV replay, it was clear that Groves was going to be stopped anyway. If you really want to cry conspiracy, then you are better citing the scorecards at the time of the finish. Groves should have been much further ahead on the cards. He clearly won most of the fight.

I'll be watching at my mate's flat in Manchester. Going to treat the whole thing as a laugh.Randall wrote:Witness the farce in vegas next weekend.
I'm a McGregor fan, but Floyd should stop him within 6 rounds. It's a mismatch.

The rematch was pretty close before the stoppage.

I didn't attend the second fight. But yeah, I bet the atmosphere was something else.fandarts wrote:was, conclusive though, groves had missed the boat in the first one, great atmosphere i bet?
A few have said that Groves hasn't been the same since. We'll see how he gets on in the upcoming Middleweight tournament. It's likely that he'll end up fighting Eubank Jr.
