Going to be a good opener. Depends what form my Chizzy is in though.
So for the first match we're going to be ''rivals'' as your Chizzy will play one of my favourites i.e. THE POWER.

That should be another cracker as it will be the other match which I'll be watching with interest since THE FLYING SCOTSMAN will face MvG in the traditional Day 1 final rematch.

in the end its still only a glorified exbo

There will be some quality matches some great performances but hard to get full invested in something that is and will never be a true major

True, always good to have the option of darts every week if there is nothing better to do.

absolutely, its a good watch can provide some class moments and breaks the early spring boring weeks till the proper season kicks off
The problem is to put up with that cunt mardle every week, it has to be worth it

I love watching all events be it euro tours, players champs. uk open etc in the start of the year where wins actually are important, but the PL and wotld Cup just dont muster up any real enthusiasm in me like the proper ranking events

Last couple of years I've really enjoyed the PL, the changes made a few years back brought new life into the event. Yes of course it's an exbo but we won't find a better exbo anywhere

the relegation after ten weeks or whatever it is has shaken up things and created some drama in the part where in the past the players were only going through the motions

I enjoy the premier league but it's far to long should only play once!

I preferred the 2007-2012 format. I've long said it.

the pdc had to go with the money aspect.

Adding the extra players, and extra dates, to get extra gates and obviously revenue was the sound decision, and as MH said the relegation aspects makes the longer format more interesting with something added to break the monotony

Was a matter of cutting out as many dead rubbers as possible and in my opinion this format does the job

That's why I'd rather have Part in the commentary booth than on the oche.... At least Darth Maple talks some sense....

What dead rubbers are you talking about? The whole stuff about "relegation" is silly, 10 players is too many and it means that even more players will be missing out of the top 4 come the end of the league season. A small handful of players may have had an awful time (most infamously Webster in 2011), but some players who finished bottom such as Scholten in 2007 or Part in 2008 were competitive throughout. The shambles of the 2009 Premier League was unavoidable due to Mardle's illness.

I think Part is good in the commentary box.

I think it is way better with the relegation factor. It adds another dimension. After relegation, the players who have made hay by bashing up the weaker players get found out (usually happens to Peter Wright).

Fairly recently, Barney avoided relegation by a whisker and ended up making finals night.

I also prefer this format to the 8 player one. Relegation is good for shaking it up, and it ensures that the players who are on the lower end of the table, try hard as they can to avoid it.

It would be better though if relegation meant that the 2 players can't return next year. I understand it would be risky if some big name went out, but would give the games a whole new meaning and would spice it up nicely.

The current format is fine... Mind you the idea of the bottom 2 missing out the following year makes sense to me....

Yeah that should be made the new rule, would add more pressure and motivation for them to not finish there. Maybe have a rule where if they reach the world final or something they can get back in, or win one of the big majors, something along those lines.

I know it's been suggested already, but what about a second tier league? Suljovic, Smith, Thornton, White, Pas, Whitlock, Jenkins, Norris, Bunting, Price. Good 10 man lineup and would be very close and competitive throughout, maybe have it played on another day in smaller arenas with a promotion/relegation novelty? Just spewing out ideas.
